My rick is for sale:
- one owner, bought new at Strait Music in Austin, TX, in Jan 2001
- it was a blem that was on get-rid-of-it sale, so it has small dings here and there, cosmetic only. A couple in the binding on the body and a couple very small dings on the back of the body.
- not sure of year but I believe it's either a '99 or '00 model.
- played only a few times and spent most of its life in the (included) rick case.
- some scratchiness in the regular output jack (have to rotate the cord in it to get good connection), it had this from new and I suspect it's a just a dirty jack. May pull the jackplate to inspect and see what the problem is.
- all case candy, sales reciept, removed PU cover included.
- ideal if buyer could come to new mexico to look at and try out personally (Santa Fe).
- $1399 OBO

Was it a *factory* blem? If so, is it stamped anywhere indicating that fact (like a lot of factory 2nds are)? Or was it just scratched/dented/whatever at the store.

There'd be a small break on the price in that case. Otherwise, the buyer pays shipping if we decide to go that way. I'm trying to sell to someone in person first before I resort to the shipping nightmare, so that'll have first priority if you can come to Santa Fe, NM.
It was a store blem, or at least that's how it was sold (could have been factory for all I know). There are a couple small chips in the finish at the binding on the front, and a small ding in the back of the body towards the bottom. As you can see from the hang tag, it was marked down because of that. Otherwise that's all that was wrong with it.

To be honest, if I don't sell it locally or to a live person who can conveniently come to NM, I'm probably going to drive down to Austin and put it on consignment at Bass Emporium as the next step.
I've been raped and pillaged enough by the shipping thingy that I'll go to pretty extraordinary lengths to avoid that.
As I said, there'll be a break in the price to anyone who comes here personally with a Fist Full O' Dollars and wants a good deal on a one-owner. I always like to try-before-I-buy and like to grant potential buyers of my stuff the same privilege.

Try all you want whine complain and become a snobish bore and totally make music a sterile fact and become a theorys mentor... OR do what you WANT to do and have fun doing it... seems a nobrainer to me.
For all the talk of musical theory and scales it all comes down to how it feels and if it fits.
I'm quite sure the Clash were quite unaware that thier theory had no method and they are undeserving of thier role as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, how DARE they occupy the RnR hall of fame and sell millions of albums... indeed, how DARE these musical novices make the album of the decade... I avoid those posts like the plague because of the very reasons I just posted above.
I wonder how Fall out Boy could sell albums because thier bassist isn't rooted in Berlin's theory... crap like that proves that no matter what you think you know.. you really don't know anything... as i see it Novices outnumber "bass masters" by a scale of 10-1 in the hall of fame.... NEVER let go of your dream, and never stop having fun with it all.
When it's not fun anymore it's time to hang it up, DON'T listen to other pointy-headed blowhards... just ENJOY it all, because it will soon all be over WAY too quickly and regrets last a lifetime. |

However, maybe the seller would like this thread to get back to being about selling his beautiful Ric?
Free bump!
