In brief, it was made by Kasuga, a small Japanese manufacturer and Quadzilla did some nice modding to it. It sounds a plays better that 90% of the Ric's I have played at stores for a fraction of the price. It also comes with a very nice hardshell case. The only difference between Quad's photos and what I have now is that a black p/up selector knob tip (that's a bit funky) is on it. And it has the hilarious "Rickenfaker" truss rod cover. Almost worth the money just for that!!
Also, NYC guitar set up dude to the stars Norio Imai did a lovely setup on this.
Again, I was super impressed with this but I just got a '72 Ric, which, while it barely edges the Faker out, is not that vastly different from this really lovely instrument! I actually sold an '80's real Ric I had when I got the Rickenfaker as it sounded and played much better!
