FS: Ritter Classic 5 *Very Low Price*

I just wrecked my Ducati yesterday and the bills are mounting. So, unfortunately I need to let my other baby go. This is a 2003 Ritter Classic 5 built by Jens Ritter in Germany. This bass was damaged previously and then professionally repaired by a respected luthier. The upper horn had to be reattached and small section of the spalted maple top was replaced around the ouput jack. The upper horn is completely stable. I gave it a couple of good yanks when I got it to make sure. Plus, anyone who has taken wood shop can tell you that a good glue joint is much stronger than wood alone. Long story short, the bass is completely structurally sound. The bass also has some finish checking, which is very common with spalted maple tops and nitrocellulose. Other than that, the bass is in very nice condition.

Playability is fantastic. I can pull off slap lines on this bass I could never do on others and other than this bass I only play fours. This bass has also received the PLECK treatment. This is done by a very expensive computer that does a literally perfect fret job. This is what Mike Lull uses and it costs $250 for this process alone. I've also found this bass to be the most ergonomic bass I've owned. The body seems to just fit against you body.

Ritters have a very unique tone. I think this bass excels at slap lines. They are very clear and even, which I have a problem with on other basses. Nice thick pick and fingerstyle tone. I would say somewhere between darkstars and barts. The preamp is very transparent when everything is flat and it gives some very cool tones when tweaked.

This bass is absolutely beautiful and it gets lots of attention. The spalted maple top is stunning.

Specs:

34" Scale
Ritter Master Electronics (active 3 band parametric)
Ritter Master Bar pickups (Ebony covers)
Body: Mahogany with Spalted Maple Top
Rosewood Fretboard
Ritter ETS 3D bridge
Gotoh Tuners
Bone Nut

Price:$1975 plus shipping. This is a good bit less than I paid for it and I it had a bad pot when I got it. I got a new pot from Jens in Germany and had it professionally installed. This isn't just a normal Fender pot by any means. This bass would be right around $8000 new and with this top the used price would be over $4000. I take paypal and money order. I would prefer paypal on this one. It will ship with the Ritter gigbag and certificate of authenticity.

To all those that have contacted me about international shipping, I haven't forgotten about you. I'm looking into it. The choices seem to be outrageous prices from the major carriers or a decent price through USPS, but without insurance. I'll pm y'all as soon as I get the skinny.

Hi Everyone,

I believe that this thread explains what's going on with international shipping these days.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING QUESTION....HELP!!!!

I will ship this bass outside of the U.S., but it seems that USPS has a $650 limit on insurance for international shipping. So if a buyer wants me to ship USPS they will assume all risk. The neck will also have to be removed for shipping. I can also ship the bass via UPS or FedEx, but it will be expensive.

I played a Ritter once with these pups and it sounded amazing. As the OP says the tone for slap is crazy good. Its tempting to be sure but I've got my eye on something else.

Oh, she's not dead. Just a trashed carbon exhaust and a very large dent in the tank. I hope to be riding it again next week.
