FS: Rob Allen Mouse unlined fretless

SOLD SOLD SOLD I recently picked this up from a fellow TB'er. Frankly it kills but I've decided to stick with 34"/35" scale and just bought an MB-2 so this needs to go. This is a gorgeous bass that plays and sounds excellent. The pics don't do it justice, and Rob's work is amazing as usual.

Rob Allen Mouse 30" scale fretless
marbled walnut top (premium)
swamp ash body
birdseye maple neck
unlined ebony fingerboard
matching bound headstock
black hardware

Comes with all the original docs and gig bag. New this would be $2745 and you'd wait months for it.

$1685 shipped in the CONUS obo. Please no low-ball offers though. Not interested in any trades except *maybe* Rob Allen MB-2 or Deep 4.

I had a RA MB2-5 for a while trying to find an upright substitute. Didn't like the 35" scale and it was boomy - user/amp error more than bass.

I am using a NS NXT EUB at the moment and really like it - but I am also noticing some signs of pain in my joints. The start of arthritis possibly. Not sure how long the EUB will last. Already thinking of going to 4 string electric instead of my 5.

OK, that was a lot of rambling and useless info for a bump for a great looking bass that might be worth a try to save my hands and still get me the upright vibe. Although everybody likes the look of the EUB as much or more than the sound I think.

Steve, I can say that not only will this sound better than the NXT (imho, based on the youtubes I've seen), it is about as easy on the hands as you can get. I have to be careful as I have some tendonitis and arthritis in various joints. The 30" scale makes for ridiculously easy reaches and plucking is no work at all. I go back and forth on selling it, but I've totally bonded with my new (to me) MB-2 fretless 4 and I don't want to have three different scale length fretli in the house (I still have my Deep5 which is 35").

At any rate, something to ponder. These are really comfy and sound huge. Feather light and balances well. I actually thought about trying an NXT or getting another upright, but last weekend I had gigs Fri, Sat, and Sun, then rehearsal on Mon. My hands were tired, and if I'd spent some of that time on an upright I don't know that I could have done them all. Just too many years of playing and various sports injuries combined with way too much computer keyboard use.

Yeah, my RA was a 35" and that just doesn't work for me. I'm not sure about the 30" scale, but with the beginnings of arthritis or over use or whatever, I think ai need to rethink my bass choices. I'm thinking of going 4 string instead of 5 as well.

I may PM you with some questions, offers, etc. Kind of busy today but maybe later or tomorrow.

Not to fan the flames, but a bass player buddy of mine came over today and played the recent arrivals (MB-2, Mouse, P-Bass, though he'd checked out the P-Bass before). He currently is playing Zon 5s and a Lakland 4. His favorite was the Mouse, due to both the sound (significantly more "upright" than the MB-2) and the ergonomics.

I can't believe no one has grabbed this. I just paid $2000 for one that plays and sounds amazing (as i suspect they all do) but with an unremarkable walnut top and no headstock veneer that is quite plain compared to this beauty.
