I remember that picture when you sent me the bass Tom. folks I'll vouch that this bass is a great playing and sounding fretless and the figured limba neck is beautiful.

I'll have another clement one day. trading this to Chauncy was not an easy decision.

After seeing that photo I may want to keep it!

If it were not for my other 2 favorite 5 Stringers the Clement would be staying, that neck is beautiful.

Sounds crazy but I am tempted by the 7. What does it weigh? What tuning? Truss rod works?

I never weighed it, but, according to the site it is 12.2 lbs. Tuning is BEADGCF. I have only had it since the end of November (purchased directly from RW). I have never touched the Truss rod.

Regarding the Clement, I may just be missing it, but I didn't see any spec's (scale length, board wood, etc...) at the link, only pictures. Did I miss it?

Also, any sound samples, per chance?

Thanks!

Thanks. How would you characterize the tone? Lots of mwah? More punchy? Good clarity? Etc...

Also, is it a Bart pre?

You could check with the original owner on this (see above post "j.kernodle"). I really only plugged it in and played it once. With the center pot cutting in/out I really could not give an accurate description of the tone.

I'll chime in. It's passive electronics. Volume, Blend and Tone. Very punchy with an organic clarity to the top end (not artificial sounding). I had Tom build it with the pickups in the same position as my old Ken Smith bass to give it a similar tonal feel.

I had a a recording of this bass actually.

The recording's about 2:30, but only the first half is the Clement, everything after that is a Warwick corvette fretless.

I started off with the bridge PU soloed, then both both PUs blended, then neck PU solo'd.

Thanks a lot. I read the VBT as "volume, bass, treble" because I'm so used to the volume-volume setup. Makes sense though as the cavity looked quite preampless.

I appreciate the sound clip as well. I love the look (and price) of Tom's basses. But I need to stick with a single coil 60's jazz pickup configuration. Suits me better tonally.
