FS: Sadowsky NYC 4 - AAAAA quilt - mint - price drop $2995

Sign in to disble this ad
Very special bass here. It's a Sadowsky NYC 4 string, with an amazing AAAAA quilt maple top and figured quartersawn maple fingerboard, ash body. Has vintage tone control. This bass is in like new condition, and as Roger Sadowsky describes some of his preowned basses, "Could pass for new easily". I think the whole bass has a vintage tint, but I'm not sure about the terminology.

This bass was previously owned by Jason DeSalvo, partner at Fodera, who hand-picked this at Roger's shop and knows a good bass when he sees one. I've had several Sadowsky basses, and this one is clearly the best I've ever played. It is simply amazing. 8.0 lbs on my bathroom scale.

$3200-->price drop-->$2995 shipped in Sadowsky hard/soft case by Paypal e-check. More photos at http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/a...adowsky%20NYC/

Thanks guys. Pretty sure the bass is chambered (it feels like it; it's pretty light). Don't know the year, but if it matters, I can contact Roger to try to find out. As I mentioned, mint condition and a special bass.

Really nice looking bass!

In looking at the truss rod adjuster it would be before the Sadowsky basses were chambered. I recall Roger saying that the chambering started around 2003-04 and started with the alder basses. Of course I could be way off on this, too.

HI

This bass would be about 10 years old. Thats when RS was using battery boxes. Thats why it has the toggle switch for the passive on/off. Its non-chambered but that doesnt mean its heavy. RS used to get some real lightweight ash and alder before supplies dried up.

Gang, the bass IS killer. The downside of becoming a partner here at Fodera is that I really wouldn't be playing this bass out anymore and it needs to be played! So, Climb and I did a complex trade involving two of my basses that weren't getting a lot of playing time. I picked up a Fodera 5'er which I was in need of and this was one of the ones he got in exchange. It is as good a Sadowsky as I have personally played...

Anyway, she's vintage 1998 with NO CHAMBERING, just good, old-fashioned medium-light weight Ash. Not a blemish on it. I had the Vintage Tone Control installed at the shop during the summer of 2009...

JT, thanks for the clarification on the chambering. As I mentioned, it's a light weight bass regardless and sounds great.

Do you mind giving us the serial number? Rob mentioned 1998, and I've always been curious as to how to date the Sadowsky basses based on serial number.

Sorry for the temporary derailment. . . amazing quilt on that!

Rob, it's odd that my '97 JJ5 doesn't have the battery box and the active/passive toggle. The passive mode, on my bass, is accessed by pulling up on the bass EQ knob.

HI

'98 to about 2000 had the battery boxes. The toggle switch was applicable if you had a non-vintage style bass. If you had a control plate, it was push/pull like it is presently.
