Bass is sold pending PAYPAL verification. Thanks, Michael.
You will LOVE the bass!!!

Hate to do it, but am selling my SADOWSKY NYC P-J 5 string that Roger made for me around 2000. I was touring with the Broadway show “Les Miserables” and wanted a P-J 5 to compliment the other Sadowsky 5 that I was using. I needed a thicker bass sound and this did the trick. I used in exclusively for orchestra pit playing (non- smoking environment) for about 6 years. It has more authority to the sound and allows you to get the P pickup thickness or dial in the sweeter highs of the J pickup in any degree. It was kept in a road case and the road case was kept in a travel closet for the guitars. You would not find a bass in better condition for the age. No buckle rash since it was always played in a sitting position and only the slightest amount of any scratching- and none of them are at all noticeable unless you are inspecting at inch away and trying to find them.
FINISH | Custom honey-cherry burst
BODY | Quilted Maple on Swamp Ash
FINGERBOARD | Rosewood, 12" Radius, 1 7/8" Nut Width
PICKGUARD | pearloid
HARDWARE | Gold
PICKUPS | Sadowsky Humcancelling
WEIGHT | 8.00 lbs. (3.63 kg)
PREAMP | Sadowsky Preamp with vintage tone roll off

It was a custom made bass to my order. It has a stunning AAAAA quilted maple top in a honey-cherry burst. It has 21 frets on a rosewood fingerboard. It has the famous Sadowsky pre-amp for bass and treble boost with the vintage tone roll off and a bypass pull switch. The hardware is gold plated and shows no signs of wear. It weighs exactly 8 pounds (lightweight) and will include a Sadowsky padded gig bag. I am not sure if the body is alder or ash, but it is a great tone balance. It cost me around $4000 and I will sell it for $2500. I will split the shipping cost for ground shipping in the conus.
Send me PM’s or call me. Not interested in any trades….

active eq or bypass for passive

Yes, this bass has the famous Sadowsky preamp, but it also allows you to play in totally passive mode. You pull up on the vintage tone roll-off knob and it is totally a passive bass. You could even play it without the battery in that mode. So...the best of both worlds!

Holy freakinī crap... Too cool!

One more thing. How wide is the string spacing at the bridge? And is it adjustable?

It is 19mm string spacing at the bridge and I do not see any adjustments on it. It was designed to have the same feel as a 4 string with one extra string.

Gorgeous bass and a fantastic price as well! Wish I had the dough. I would wish you luck with the sale, but you won't need it....this should go quick.

Is the body by any chance routed for reverse P/J as well, or was it built specific for standard P configuration?

Great question.....but I do not know the answer. I had this bass made for me special order through Roger Sadowsky. I don't know if Roger does that as a normal procedure, but I did not request that to be done.

I bought one of these from a fellow member on this board that is newer than this bass and it was not routed for both ways. Think it is a special request when ordering but you could always look under the pickguard and see.
That is real eye candy. Sure proud it is not a Jazz style or I would have to start selling stuff.
Good luck with the sale!

I've not liked quilt tops too much in the past few years BUT this bass just says something to me.

If my employment situation wasn't in a bad way I would jump on this bass. and play the heck out of it.

Best of luck and I hope it finds a good home.
