Up for sale is my Sadowsky NYC Ultra Vintage P bass made in June 2009.
It's kinda special order as not only the neck (like all Sadowsky basses) but also the body is finished in NITRO. At the time I placed the order Roger didn't offer nitro finished bodies but he made an exception for me and for an upgrade I had this all-nitro lacquer beauty. Now Roger is offering the "vintiquity" treatment as a $500 upgrade so if you don't like the relicing thing and you wish to have a Sadowsky that will nicely age with honest playing ... well, here your ticket!
The bass also has a nickel plated bridge and not the chrome plated as usually offered because the goal was to have a bass that would naturally "relic" and nickel gets a nice patina over time. Seeing the result Roger told me at the time that he would have considered switching to nickel plated for all of his bridges.
As regarding the other specs, as the rest of the Ultra Vintage serie, it sports a full size alder body, 1,75" nut width, vintage tinted neck, 20 frets WONDERFUL brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Bass weight is 8,05 lbs.
It's currently strung with a 40-100 set of Sadowsky Blue Nickels that had a totally playing time of about two hours.
The bass is signed on back of the headstock by Roger.
Playability and sound are nothing less than stellar like any Sadowsky bass.
The bass is in the same condition it came to me in June 09. I gigged twice with it and other than that it's always been at my house in a smoking-free environment. There's only a little chip in the finish in the rear part of the instrument near the upper edge but it's so little and so superficial that really it can't be pictured. It would probably disappear totally with a drop of Sadowsky Restoration Cleaner. Other than this, the bass has no scratch, no dings, nothing at all: it's so clean that you wouldn't believe someone played it! I'd give this bass a good 9,999 out of 10!!!
I'd part with it for $ 3500 + shipping. As regarding shipping, as I'm a good FedEx customer I have access to nice shipping quotes and we'll sure find a good one to let this baby come back to USA from Europe.
It comes with unmounted pickup cover (body's not drilled for it) and the famous Sadowsky Portabag.
It comes even with all the papers and the original box it came with!
