FS: Sandberg Ken Taylor 5

Hey all,

Now that I'm a member of the Modulus Mob it's time to pass on a truly great instrument that I'm afraid won't get the use it deserves from me anymore. This Sandberg Ken Taylor 5 was my first fiver--and it's a magnificent and rare bass (at least in these parts). I'm asking $1100 shipped to CONUS. I welcome other cash offers, but at this point, I won't be considering trades. Thanks for understanding.

More pics can be found here

Visually, it's a stunner--everyone who ever sees this is blown away by the black matte finish that lets the grain come through (I'm not sure whether the pics will capture this effect). And believe me, you'll get major cred from musicians who know about the Sandberg brand that is still struggling to find a foothold in the US--but is seemingly well known all over the rest of the world.

And it plays like a monster. There is almost no sound you can't get by manipulating the 3-band eq; everything from deep dub to great slap tones can be found with minimal exploration.
This bass really opened up my playing by inviting me to try new things and experiment with new techniques.

I'm the second owner and the first, was an extremely conscientious collector who unfortunately knew very little about the materials or history. The good news is that this bass was kept behind glass for most of it's life--I'm not sure the first owner ever really played it (he's a pianist by trade). He did however, manage to put in some buckle rash which is unfortunate. Obviously, it does nothing to the sound, but it does detract from the look of the back of the bass (pics sould show it).

Other than that, it's is good shape. I put one very minor ding into the thin side of the body (detailed in pics) and there's another, almost invisible small one on the back of the neck. All cosmetic.

Here's what I think I know after some due diligence--though I'm sure smarter people on these boards will correct me.

Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5-String
Likely made in Germany between 2002 and 2004
34" scale
24 frets
2 Delano SplitCoil Soapbars
3-Band active EQ
Pickup Blend
Pickup Coil Split Switch
I'm decently sure it's a Euro Ash body
Maple Neck
Rosewood Fingerboard

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Chad
