FS - Short Scale Warwick !!!

Sign in to disble this ad
One-of-a-kind custom Warwick Short Scale Fortress.

This bass started as a Rockbass Fortress...and is now SO much more!

All the work was done by the U.S. Warwick techs at Dana B. Goods, in Ventura CA.

The parts left from the Rockbass are the body(swamp-ash with beautiful grain), bridge, and pickups.

The big upgrade is the German-made 30.7" scale neck. Ovangkol neck/wenge fingerboard, and brass Adjust-a-nut. 24 frets. Also, the electronics were switched out to the German-made MEC .

The bass plays great, and the neck feels awesome. The intonation is right on at both the 12th, and 24th fret. The sound is big, and full. Controls are volume (pull for passive), blend, bass, and treble. The balance is great, and if you normally feel the headstock on a bass is a mile away...the strap-button sits at the 10th fret!

The only way to get a Warwick short scale neck is to option one (at a $450.00 upcharge), when you order a multi-thousand dollar, custom-shop Warwick direct from Germany...they will not sell necks aftermarket.

String-spacing is 19mm., and the bridge is not recessed into the body like the two-piece style. This means you could add a high-end bridge like the Hipshot A-style, and customize your string spacing.

Condition is excellent, with just a few minor marks that would be very difficult to photograph.

$750.00 shipped to the lower 48.

Cool bass. Out of curiosity, how much does she weigh, what is width of neck at nut and how would you describe neck radius/style (jazz, baseball bat, etc.). Thx, DM

The neck width measurements are:

Nut=38mm
12th fret=55mm
24th fret=63mm

Neck thickness:

1st fret=21mm
12th fret=25mm

As far as weight goes, I'd have to find a scale. But I have a bass I know for sure is 8 lbs. even, and the short scale is noticeably heavier, but not by much. I'll guesstimate 9.5 lbs?

According to information on the Warwick forum, Rockbasses have the same pickups as the german Warwicks, but don't have the german MEC electronics.

This bass is all about the neck anyway...so how about a price drop to $800.00 shipped.
