Here we have a Valenti Jazz 5-string bass
This bass has been upgraded to an East U-Retro 3-band preamp with a passive tone control -- and yes, the passive rolloff works in both active and passive modes. The upshot is that this bass can deliver all the tonal goodness of the East Preamp but it can also be played in 100% passive mode as well. The versatility here is mind-boggling. It plays beautifully although the action needs to be lowered a tad. Excellent, excellent sounding and playing bass. Soundwise, the bass is as versatile as a J can get.
There are several minor blemishes that I've taken pictures of. Obviously they don't affect playability but you need to know about them. Also, the treble pot is a bit scratchy at times.
New, this bass would cost well over $2000. In pristine condition used, it would cost about $1400. On account of the blemishes, I'll offer it up for SOLD -- shipped via PayPal.

I played one of Nino's 5ers a couple years ago at a GTG. His stuff is absolutely top-notch!
I wish I had the scratch to grab this but reality is telling me something different (damn reality!)
Bump for a beauty by a skilled craftsman!

If this was 4+1 style headstock and didn't have the EMG pups I would be all over it. Valenti basses are crazy awesome and sexy as hell. Good luck with the sale.

These are far and away the biggest steals of any basses on the market, new or used. I've owned them all and it blows my mind that these aren't more expensive.
Having said all that, I hope they continue to stay low until my business gets off the ground and I can afford to buy a few more.

You're right -- and I am about ~~>THIS<~~ close to deciding to keep this one.
The fit & finish of this bass is outstanding and with the U-Retro, it kills, tonally.
