This bass is awesome. This is the best feeling, playing and sounding fiver I have had my hands on. Simple reality is that I am no longer five string player, and I refuse to have a bass this cool sitting and just looking pretty. I played this as my only bass for over a year and it served me well. I really do love it, but it no longer has a suitable purpose for me. Pete is a great luthier and a friend. One day I hope I am in a position to order a suitable 4string from him.
Specs are:
Primavera body w/flame maple stringers down the center.
3 piece maple neck with Macassar Ebony Fretboard 35" scale
Flamed Anigre inlay at the 12th fret
Skjold C5 pickup (has four settings, a standard P, a reverse P, all coils in series, all coils in parallel)
Passive with a Creation Labs redeemer circuit
Shell Inlay Logo
Comes with a Skjold labled Pro Tec Gig bag and a wide Red leather Skjold logo'd Strap.
Its got a couple of minor blemishes. I put an eraserhead sized ding the body on the tummy cut the first time I took it to practice. Looks the same as the day I did it, sometimes I have to search for it to find it. Also, there is a little finish issue on the neck heel. This has been there since I got it and it has not gotten any worse. Pictures of both below.
Price is $2450 shipped and insured in the US. Will not be shipping this overseas. Prefer a payment of a Paypal echeck. Local pickup would also be awesome. Will consider trades +cash on your end. Let me know what you got.
See the ding hear, it blends in pretty well.

Best of luck on the sale, Paul. |

Paul, up until now I thought you were a man of reason and in your right mind.
Dude, keep the B string! Indeed, throwing the B-string baby out with the Skjold bathwater.

Seeing this bass (which i want ) sitting against the FATHOM HEAD in your pictures (I have a fathom as well) makes me want it even MORE!
STUPID QUESTION...I love the sound of my '69 p vintage pickup into the 2/3 setting on the fathom, gain about 1'oclock. How "modern" is the p sound on this bass? Can I get to "old-school, thumpy, chunk" with the pickup in your 5-er?
(sorry...I haven't played the style of bass you are selling) |
