Post FS: "as is" Spector NS5CRFM natural finish

Sign in to disble this ad
I have this Spector bass here and I am just tired of messing around with it and I want to get rid of it.

I am not sure of the year, but it is the discontinued series NS5-CRFM. It has a flamed maple top. Neck-thru design, with active EMG pickups. EMG BT control preamp Gold hardware.

Now here are the problems with it. A god portion of the top half of the face is severely worn. After looking at it, the wood grain is still visible, so some decent waxing may fix it. Also, belong the neck pickup a previous owner had some expo marker writing on it. I have gotten most of it out and it is barely visible unless looked at very close in the right angle of light. I have a picture of this below. It is barely seen. Also, the preamp is totally shot. I get no signal at all out of it. The output jack and the pickups work fine, but the preamp itself is fried, so a new one will be needed. Most people usually replace the preamps anyway, so this will save you some money. Also, one of the original knobs is missing and has been replaced by a fender tone knob, but a replacement can be easily bought.

The neck however is GREAT! There is almost no wear at all and is plays extremely well! There is some fret wear, but nothing really major. There is some fret buzz, but I'm sure that can all be straightened out.

This would be a great bass for someone to work with over time and make it really shine.

No hardshell case included. I never had one for it.

Do to the condition I am selling it $575 shipped CONUS AS IS. If you are local, I can cut you a deal. Paypal only.

And here are the pics:

here is the picture with the writing. Like I said, you can barely see it. It almost blends in with the wood grain

Here is a pinky finger width dent on the lower horn:

Thanks!

Free bump for a cool bass. I used to own one of these ... awesome tone. With a little TLC this one could be a real looker.

I was thinking maybe a little gloss finish over the worn out part would kinda balance out the look and not make the wear so noticeable, but I have no experience in this area of work.

I'm pretty sure this bass has an oil/wax finish. It really wouldn't be that hard to fix the blemishes. These basses also came with an EMG preamp (not a tone pump). Again, dropping another EMG or Aguilar preamp in to get the electronics working isn't a big job either. If I had the cash I would buy it just to fix it up. Whoever ends up with this is going to have a fun project and end up with a killer bass.

I agree. All the problems are minor, but I just don't have the time or money to work with it. I'm happy with the gear I have as well, so I just want it to go to someone who will put some good work into it and use it well.

Probably. They started putting the inlays in at the same time they switched them all to 35" scale. I've seen a couple exceptions though. Spector always sort of "eased into" a new model from a previous version.

It is a 34" scale.

and about trades. I am not really looking for a straight trade. It would have to be a trade+ cash for me to look into it.

Thanks though.
