I hate to see this beauty go, but she doesn't get the treatment like my other basses. Recently bought this bass from another TB'r and made a few adjustments and upgrades. This bass plays like a dream. LOW-LOW action (see pic) with no buzz. Here are the upgrades:
  • Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Single Coil PU
  • PU & Bridge Covers
  • Chromes (flatwounds)
  • Orange Drop Cap for tone

I'll let her go for $295 shipped CONUS only including a no-name gig bag.

Is the pup basically a single coil so there would be some hum with some grit? These basses are great for the $!

I just picked one of these puppies up and they are stunning for the $$. I put chromes, guards and stuffed a bit of foam at the bridge. I would love to hear some sound samples with the P/U upgrade. This is one where Squire outdid itself IMO. Good luck.

Sweet. What's the nut width and weight? And I'm new to the p-bass scene - how does this rate compared to the original or other versions in terms of "classic p tone", build quality/materials and neck shape/feel? Also, does this have the classic split-pickup, or is it the "smaller" looking single coil? Could be a very tempting intro to p-world. Thx, DM

Geez I wish I had 95 extra bucks, im loving this bass. Anyway you can drop a little more? If you could drop 20 bucks I could probably manage it.

The nut width is 1.65 inches. The weight according to my ****** Dollar General bathroom scale is around 8lbs 13 oz give or take a few oz. This bass has your classic 50's style tone. The flats make it warm and punchy. I had rounds on it for a while and the SD pup has serious grit and tone. The neck is very fast. With the extremly low action this baby plays like a dream. If your expanding into the P world this would be a great start.

Thx for the reply. Very interested. Is it the split (4 x 4 pole) pickup or a single coil that I've seen on the 50s p's?

It has the 50's style single coil p/u, not the split P that came later.
