FS: Squier Pro-Tone Precision V bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Pro-tone basses and guitars were made in Korea from 96-98 and have some nice upgrades over regular Squier instruments. If I am not mistaken, these were made in the same factory (Cort) as the MIK Lakland Skyline basses. This particular bass is much nicer than any other Squier bass I've ever seen (with the exception of the early MIJ ones). This 5-string has a trans-red finish on ash body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, aged white pearloid pickguard and gold hardware. Kent Armstrong humbucking pickups that are completely noise-free. Controls are VVT. Comes with original fitted SKB-style hardshell case. Mint condition and set up nicely with low action and brand new D'Addario XL's. Weight is in the 9 lb. range. This is a great 5er for the price.

SOLD plus shipping. CONUS only.

Yea- that's the same bass but I think mine has a much nicer grain on the body. Here's a couple of pics of the actual bass. You probably won't find a cleaner example!

I bumped my headstock... Bass is now on the 'bay. I would stop the auction for a TB'er.

Great bass. Had mine for sale and changed my mind. This is definitely a cut above any squier being produced now. I heard they stopped producing the pro-tone line because it was very close to the Fenders

Thanks for the bumps, guys. I've heard that sales of Pro-Tone instruments actually cut into USA Fender sales and that's why they stopped the series. If I wasn't mainly into four string basses I'd keep her without hesitation. Since I have had PM's about trades, I'll say that the only trades I would consider would be a clean Hohner B2 headless bass or possibly a Traveler Escape bass but a sale is preferred.

I have a Protone P/J 4 string, and you know what? It sounds better than any Squire I have ever played easily, and is better than some of the "high-end" basses of similiar type I have played before as well.

It's a shame they don't make these anymore, because the price is great and they are also good to experiment on as well.

What kind of pickups come on these basses? Look like buckers!
