I took it out the other day to meet a local interested buyer. When I got home, I realized that a large crack had developed in the fretboard at the first fret. I took it to a guitar tech and he informed me that the truss rod is broken, and this bass needs a new neck.
If you are looking for a project bass, I would say this is a good candidate. Aside from the neck problem, this is in great overall condition. It is still playable as is, although the action is pretty high. I have spent several hours practicing here at home and it still sounds great. Good for a finger workout as well. Necks vary in price, but I think you can get an exact replacement used in the $60-$70 range.
