I'm in the process of clearing out some of my music gear that's not getting used much, so my beloved Squier VM 70's Jazz is on the block.
I purchased the bass new early in 2008 as a reward for myself for working six months worth of 55-60 hour weeks. I chose this particular bass over Schecters, Ibanez's (Ibani?) MIM and MIA Fenders, and several other "nice" brands. I was prepared to spend $600-700, but this fella saved me a few hundred bucks.
I replaced the stock Duncan Designed pickups with genuine SD 1/4 Pounders, which thickened up the tone considerably, and I installed Dunlop Straplocks. Other than that, I didn't see a good reason to fix what wasn't broken. It stays in tune really well, and it sounds killer. It was my main gigging bass with my old post-hardcore band, and I never had any issues being heard in the mix.
I currently have the bass set up for CGCF tuning with a set of custom .050-.120 d'Addario Pro Steels on it. They're a bit on the dead side, but if you're looking for something more conventional (or just more fresh) let me know your preference and I can throw them on and get it set up for them if you're interested.
The bass is in just shy of showroom condition. There are only two very tiny knicks in the finish on the back, and a very slightly discolored area on the back where I had a sticker for a while. Other than that, it is in great condition. I'm honestly amazed that it is in such good condition, considering that it was gigged hard for about three years. That poly can take a beating.
