FS Squier VM Jazz Bass - Modified Aesthetics + Original Parts

Sign in to disble this ad
$220 + Shipping, obo.

This is my Squier I bought new about 4 months ago.
But lucky me, I've saved enough for a Fender, which barely beats this bass out IMO, so I don't need her anymore.
By modified aesthetics, I mean I have swapped out the tuners, control plate, bridge, string tree and knobs to make it look a little prettier.
I did these mods not to make the bass sound better, but to look better.
No worries though, all of the parts I used are of better or equal quality to the originals, which are included anyways.

On to the pictures:

The first inlay is lifting a bit. It never bothered me, so I completely forgot about it.
I don't know why it's doing that, but it doesn't interfere with playing.
I suppose it could be relaid into the neck, but I don't know if it's necessary...

(Reflections, not blemishes, obviously.)

Cons:
One thing I do need to specifically mention is that when I was installing the new tuners, they were the wrong size, so I had to drill new holes in the headstock.
I did this by turning all of the tuners a few degrees, and one time I did drill all the way through the headstock.
I stuck a toothpick in the hole and smoothed it down. No effect on sound or playability.
Otherwise she is in great condition. A bit of wear on the pickguard, one all but invisible scratch on the back of the body.
Aside from the deal with the headstock, practically mint!
A great player too! I will miss her, but my new Fender won't pay for itself!
(Hole in the headstock is seen in the second photo between first and second tuning pegs.)

Here's all the original parts (screws included), plus the black brushings I didn't install. (The originals are currently on the bass).

Right now, it has the EB Power Slinky strings on. About a month old. If heavy gauges aren't your thing, I recommend changing the strings before you play anything.

Another thing to mention is that I do only have 2 feedback, but check out my eBay profile, I've sold a few instruments on there before and gotten good feedback, so no need to worry. It's Ryanjd93.

When I get ready to ship, I will wrap securely with bubble wrap and put plenty of padding in the box. No case or bag included. Sorry.

Thank you. I did what I could to make sure it stayed as new as possible.
But looking back on switching out the tuners, I definitely should have just bought new tuners that fit.

So can the original tuners be re-installed? Or will they not fit after drilling the headstock?

They will definitely fit. It's just about lining up the tuners with the right set of holes.

Bump for a great looking bass!
I really thought a natural bass with black hardware would look fantastic, and yours is proof of concept man,

Jeff

If I'm late on this paper and get an 'F' can I sue someone?
