This bass is an incredible piece of workmanship. It plays easier than just about every other bass I've ever tried. I am selling it because its tone no longer fits my needs. I am tending toward the single coil sound, and I can't get that out of this bass. The Stambaugh is a very modern sounding instrument, and does its job fantastically. But it just isn't my sound anymore.
Here is a Youtube video that I recorded about a month or two after receiving it, breaking down the features and some of the sounds this bass is capable of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjoPo2_4yQA
I have no pictures of the bass by itself because I don't have my camera with me, and I'm a really backward guy so my phone doesn't have a camera, at least one that I know how to use. So here are some pictures from my album photo shoot (note: if you listen to my album, be aware that I did not get my Stambaugh in time for the recording sessions, so that album was done on a MIA Fender 5er):

When I spec'd the bass out and had it built, this was very much what I was into. In the last few months I have come to the realization that I much prefer the sound of single coil pickups, especially in the bridge position. Also, mahogany, while certainly a very good tone wood, I now know that I prefer alder. I've been through ash, walnut, and mahogany basses, and my ear just keeps gravitating toward alder. |

My build from a competitor took only 4 months. I am happy with mine, for sure.
Bump for you and GLWTS ! |

This is the video I watched over and over again about 6 months ago when I was looking for a custom.
I LOVE your bass !!!!
If it were a 4 string it would be mine.
That being said, I am SO happy with the bass and builder I went with. I kept it all here on the West Coast.
Also, great music ! I really like your compositions, Ian. Great stuff.

Bump for you and GLWTS ! | Stambaugh's take about a year, and you shouldn't buy a custom bass unless you're experienced enough to know exactly what you want.
Just my two cents. |
