FS: Starter bass

For me, this is the one that started the passion we all share. A few years ago my wife had heard enough about my interest in picking up the bass and bought me this one for Christmas. I took some lessons, practiced like hell and joined a band. Since then G.A.S kicked in and now I own 5.

Know someone who might want to pick up the bass? Looking for a bass to have your kids learn on? Want an inexpensive back-up guitar? Need a bass you can bring to those party gigs where stuff seems to get knocked around/spilled on/stolen? This one should fit the bill for any of those occasions. I babied the heck out of this guitar since it was my first, so it's in really terrific shape. It's never been gigged with and only left the house for lessons. Unlike having a guitar that’s all beat to hell, kids will learn respect for an instrument that’s in good shape like this one. It's light, it's shorter than a jazz but not "kid short" so kids, teens and adults can all play it.

Here are some specs:

Manufacturer: Crescent
Style: Passive P-bass
Weight: 8.4 lbs
Width at nut: 1 5/8"
Fret board: Rosewood, 20 frets
Dimensions: 21 1/4" nut to end of fretboard, 32 1/4" nut to bottom of bridge, 31" nut to saddles

I’d part with this for $85 + shipping.

Thanks.

By the way, the Thomas the Tank Engine sprinkler shown in the 3rd picture is not included in this sale.

I could be convinced to throw it in but you have to close the deal with my son as well. And he drives a hard bargain.

I'm guessing around $30 - $40 from what I've seen on other threads.

I've had a few questions asked about shipping. Based on other posts I've seen here on TB, I'm guessing it'll cost around $30-$40 for packaging and freight, but if anyone wants a specific quote I'll be I happy to go to the post office and get one. Please don't ask me to do so if you're not serious -- for the sake of argument use $35. If that fits your budget, you like the guitar and you're committed to buying it once you hear what the actual costs will be, I'll get you a specific quote if you want it. I will pass along the true costs without mark up.

Another question arose about the fit of the neck to the body. The fit is secure -- there is no movement in the neck at all. Here are some additional photos.

It's 31" from the nut to the saddles.

Not to hijack the thread or offend....but dang man...it's an $85 instrument!! Why don't you find a youngster wanting to learn and just give him/her the bass to "pass the torch" so to speak....just sayin'....

I just bought an EBMM and I'm repaying the loan I took against the family savings. While your suggestion is not a bad one, giving away guitars doesn't get me back to even.
