FS: Steinberger XL-2A TransTrem

Everything is all original and works great. It has amazingly low action. The active HAZ lab pre controls are Volume, Balance, and Active Tone. The active tone knob boosts highs in one direction and turning the same knob in the other direction boosts lows. It sounds kind of strange but it's actually very effective. It is very clean and shows only light fret wear. It has one tiny chip near the bridge.

My favorite thing about the the TransTrem is the locking feature. You can drop the tuning to B,E,A,D the lower 4 strings of a 5 string.

Includes the transtrem key, trem bar, original gig bag and a folding stand designed for Steinberger style instruments.

A rare bird. Only a couple hundred TransTrem bass bridges were ever made.

The Holy Grail of Steinie basses........GLWTS.

Plantbrain 02-14-2013 10:26 PM

Another thing with trems, locks, and detuners: the double ball and short non would strings stay in tune better that post wound strings

I asked Joe Zon about this with the Hyper(detuning hell) and the Vinny(similar non post bridge and head).
