Up for sale is a late 1990 Stingray 5 string. I am not an expert on Stingrays. My info comes from musicmanbass.org. It appears to be a July/August 1990 build. I would rate the condition a 6 out of 10. Has some marks on the body that I tried to show in the pics. Worst one is up toward the top horn. I only have the camera from my Blackberry.
I just had the bass set up w/ D'Addario EXL170-5. This bass has the Musicman logo on the tuning keys and neck plate. It must have the older pickup because it sounds better than the newer Stingrays IMO. Also, the G string does not slide off the neck. I personally have that problem with the newer SR5's. Although some people don't.
I believe everything is original. The only 2 things I think may not be original is the pickguard and the case. Don't know if they came with Pearloid pickguards back then. The case is beat up & one latch is missing but I don't know if they came in this type of case. Any Stingray experts please let me know your thoughts.
You can see that it has been played by the dings and marks. The neck is great and the frets have plenty of life left in 'em.
Not sure what the color is called. I will call it a Teal Burst. Has a slight yellow hue probably from age or smokey clubs or original owner was a smoker.
