FS: SX Fretless Short Scale Jazz, Piezo Bridge, Noiseless PUPs, Old Headstock

Now parting out -- see prices for various items HERE.

OK, my fretless-really-isn't-for-me purge continues with this SX short scale fretless jazz bass. Sunburst/rw board, 'vintage' tint neck with old headstock shape. Wearing Rotosound short scale tapewounds currently. I wanted to keep it passive, noise-free and able to go from faux-upright mode to standard electric jazz tone at will. Thus the following mods:

-Bridge replaced with individual saddle piezo quick-release type
-Neck pickup changed to Fender noiseless
-Bridge pickup changed to Dimarzio Model 'J'
-Push/pull volume pot (neck) to switch in piezo

Here's how it works: when the pot is up, the bass is just like a regular Jazz, VVT. When down, the piezo is on in series with the neck pickup and the bridge volume still controls the bridge pickup only. Because of the way the various pickups interact the tone control is more like a master volume with the piezo in, and the bridge volume control (I think because it's coming on in parallel with the neck/piezo combo) acts more like a tone shaper/filter of some sort. I use an external preamp/eq and set it to work with the piezo, and then turn it off when I go with just the magnetic pickups.

I tried a few different wiring configurations before ending up with this one, another option would be to use the push/pull to cut the mag pickups entirely and just run the piezo, I ended up liking the neck+piezo better than the piezo alone (or piezo in parallel with either or both of the others). But I digress, and I'm also starting to talk myself out of selling this...so back to the subject at hand. Bass is in very good shape, there are just a few flaws to note (all pictured): Some peeling of the finish right at the edge of the fretboard on the 1st 3 frets, not an issue or hindrance while playing...a few minor abrasions just below the control panel...and a small chip of the finish gone right near the neck heel on the G side.

$245 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. Add $25 for the gig bag (it's virtually new and a couple steps above a cheapie, decent padding and sized to fit exactly). PM with questions, etc...thanks!

Good luck selling this bass. I have a fretless SX bass too and the pick ups just keeps getting better and better by the day, but mine is lake placid blue and was discontinued. These things are the best.

Eric - thanks, I frankensteined a LP Blue SX jazz body onto a Squier vm neck and it's my favorite everyday player.

gm2 - no immediate wants on my end but if anyone wants to pm me I'll take a look. Japan-made vintage-y stuff tends to catch my eye at this end of the price spectrum.

I'll consider parting out, PM interests. I do have the bridge pup that matches the Fender noiseless on the neck.
