I am thinning the herd a bit and am selling three good but under used basses. I am not looking at trades right now, but I may be interested if you were willing to trade for multiple basses (the object here is to have less basses )

All prices include shipping...

1) SX Geddy Pee
This bass has the body from an SX P, the neck from an old headstock SX Geddy Lee style jazz, pickups/wiring/electronics from a MIM Fender 50s Precision, a Badass II bridge, and knobs from a Fender RW Jazz. This was my first P bass. The bass currently has rounds strung on it (which are OK), but had a monster sound when I strung it with with LaBella flats. The bass itself was used at one rehearsal and is in virtually brand new condition (The pickup covers do show some wear). I also acquired a RW P, and I had to choose between the two...it was actually a difficult decision, but I am a sunburst kind of guy. $250

2) Squier VM Fretless
This bass has been heavily modified...so here are the features:
* New Hipshot HB7 tuners
* Badass II Bridge
* EMG Active electronics and pickups
* Chrome neck pickup cover
* Black pickguard and tug bar
* Neck has been tinted for a more vintage look
* Body has been stripped and is painted flat silver with black racing stripes

I LOVE the color of this bass and the way it looks with the black and chrome. The body finish is rough, but from a few feet away it looks fine (I traded this bass from a TBer who had dne the refinish). The bass now has a really solid feel to it. $280

3) Epiphone Thunderbird - SOLD
This bass is stock, but I have installed a new strap button into the neck heel area to eliminate neck dive. Nothing is wrong with this bass, but I have decided I have enough Fenderbirds to satisfy my Gibson-esque needs. $200

The weight on the P is about 8.5 pounds....or so my bathroom scale says. The neck is essentially brand new, so I hope the truss rod works . I can check tonight.

I also got a PM asking about how it plays...and I wanted to share my response here since I think it is appropriate.

From the research I have done the body appears to be alder. It is a SX-spb57 body.

I also took a straight edge and looked to see if there were any high frets. I didn't see any, but there may have been a fret that was low by just a bit. I don't think the fret ends are sharp at all, and the fretwork seems to be pretty good. However, I am not a neck expert.

I play tested it with my road worn P. If I had to choose right now, I'd take the SX. However, I have some tweaking to do on the RW....considering they both have the same electronics, maple necks, and similar bodies....I would say the SX does a great job with keeping up with its RW cousin. I like the neck profile of the SX neck....not as bulky as a regular P...or so it seems.

Overall, I'd say it plays great, and I would definitely gig it. I just absolutely LOVE the Road Worn look and sunburst as well as the chunky P neck. I do also like my GL Jazz, and this thing is a nice compliment to that. The only things left to upgrade are the tuners....if you did that, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any issues....not that the stock tuners are bad now though.

Don't forget, this is in more or less new condition. I just played it a little bit before I got my other P.
So, that is my honest assessment of this bass. I really wanted a Geddy Pee, so I built one.....but the vintage P vibe got to me and I am chasing that more right now.

According to Rondo, the neck width at the nut is 1 9/16" and at the 20th fret is 2 9/16

Similar...but different....maybe a little chunkier than the GL Jazz....a good compliment to the Jazz in the P idiom

Definitely not as chunky as the MIM 50s Precision or Road Worn P....those are the only other P basses I have any familiarity with. This makes sense since the neck is from an SX jazz bass. I don't know if the SX neck is any slimmer than a "normal" SX jazz neck though.

It i a great stepping stone to a "real P" (whatever that means)...and looks great next to the GL Jazz
