FS/T *Minty* Modified Squier VM Jazz V 5 string Hello TB! I have for your consideration a very lovely bass. I hate to use the word 'mint' because what's perfect to me may not be to someone else, but for the life of me I can NOT find a mark or a scratch on this bass. The only flaws come from the slight modifications I have made, namely: a) a small hole in the face of the headstock from the original bar string retainer. I felt it conflicted w/ the overall flow/shape of the headstock, so I replaced it w/ 2 chrome round trees. The hole is hidden from view at most angles by the upper tree. b) I replaced the stock Duncan Designed p/ups w/ used Mexican Fenders. They completely changed the sound of the bass- and imo for the better- as the 5 string DDs were very clanky and upper mid-focused, and the Mexi's have a sweet top and a fuller bottom. But, they came w/, and still have, some oxidation on the poles. c) lastly, there's a small oxidation spot in the middle of the last fret. I have no idea where it came from or how it got there. This bass has been a gig-bagged closet queen since July, so I was surprised to see it. The only other modification I made was to replace the original chrome knobs w/ genuine Fender Jazz bass knobs. The pots are split shaft imports and the knobs are imperial set screw, so I used pot sleeves for compatibility. Specs: 1-7/8" nut 18mm spacing 10.4 lbs. using the fat guy holding the bass minus just the fat guy on a not-so-accurate digital bathroom scale Bass will come w/ a padded gig bag that it barely fits into, but does have a good bit of cushioning and does quite a fine job at keeping the bass safe. And now, On to the Pron...:bassist: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see, the grain is matched beautifully, but is clean and subtle rather than ostentatious. The pickguard is the original b/w/b, but I painted the edge black for (what I thought was) a cleaner look. It can easily be undone if so desired. I'd like to get $270 shipped for a sale, PayPal'd and shipped UPS ground. For trades I'm looking for a set of Lindy Fralin 4 string J 'raised pole' p/ups + chrome Hipshot A brass 5-hole Fender mount bridge + (your)cash. Bass is bagged and boxed; will go out same day or next that payment clears (excepting Sundays, of course). Thanks for looking, and please PM any questions! :bassist: |
