FS: TPB Limited Edition Roscoe LG3005

I know I am going to hear it from the Roscoeheads out there - but this is something I feel I must do.

I was the first to buy one of the Roscoe Limited Editions made for and sold by The Perfect Bass. I don't play a 5 string very often so buying another 5 was not in my thoughts. But when I saw the pics of these and saw the wood grain the GAS pains took over and forced me to buy.

What a well made instrument - and probably the best sounding B string I have ever heard. I recorded with it last month and it shook the studio on playback.

Here's the deal - I really don't play a 5 that much - and have come to find that I really do prefer 34" scale on a 5. Turns out I have developed a small neuroma on my left index finger and it doesn't hurt as much on a 34".

I purchased this new two months ago. There were only 2 of the natural finish made and only 10 in the run of this limited edition. Very light. Incredibly comfortable to wear. It is in perfect condition.

Sold for $2399 new. Make me a reasonable offer and let's make a deal. PM me or email me at bill@eggert.com.

Please no trades.

We've got to have a member out there who's named "Walrus" - it would be the next Perfect Bassist to own the perfect bass from The Perfect Bass.

Wow! That's nice, and one of the lightest fives I've seen. If I didn't just buy 3 other basses today I would be all over it (still thinking about it...)

It's really 7.9 lbs. - that's with the strings on right?

I haven't weighed it but the case is much heavier than the bass!!

Beat me to it. If his name were Garfunkel though, "koo koo ka choo" would be a great choice.

Oh yeah, nice bass!!!

Oh ya' killing me Eggman!

What killer grain on that ash! That's one classy looking Roscoe! If it hangs around very long I might get weak!

Yes - it is still available. It is a great bass - just not what I need right now. Truly is in new condition. As I said - not very much time on it - no dings or scratches.

Thanks for the offers -

I know I didn't post a price - and I did so on purpose, to gauge what you all thought this bass is worth.

Obviously I think the bass is worth close to what I paid. Why? Because it is in better shape than 99% of what you would find in a store and because there are only 2 of these natural finish ash LG3005 Limited Editions in existence.

A couple of the offers I have gotten remind me of auto industry numbers - you know where a car depreciates 40% the moment you drive off the lot. I don't agree with that scenario with basses of this caliber. Is that really how the market is with boutique basses? I don't know.

I have sold numerous basses here and on eBay without a single posted complaint or negative response. I guess I point this out to say that I am honest about condition and in my dealings.

I have had two occassions here on TB where buyers have mentioned they thought that the condition of the bass received was less than described. I gave a partial refund to one buyer. In both cases the basses in question were later posted for sale at prices higher than I charged and both listed as mint. What is up with that?

So - what's the bottom line?

I would like $2200 out of this bass - shipping and Paypal fee negotiable.

Thanks for looking.

Eggman

Yes, that's pretty much how it works.. I think most people that buy used basses have a range for each specific instrument.. Roscoe LG3005's usually fall into the 1500-1600 range used regardless of the condition or rarity of the wood.. I remember a local guy here trying to sell an Afzelia Burl LG3005 for 1800.. Keith can't even get that wood anymore, and if he did, you're looking at $1,000 upchage for the top.. That bass sold for 1499.. He tried for the longest to get more out of it, but couldn't.. As soon as he hit that "normal" range, it was gone.. This bass had never left the house either.. MINT.

You may find that one special buyer that's looking for exactly this bass, or you may just do better by hanging on to it..

You're trying to sell something that's going to have a very small market too, so it may take some time.

Good luck with the sale.

Agree 100% as soon as the car leaves the dealership price go down, as soon as the bass leaves the store price go down, that is the market, when selling it sucks but when buying is great.
