I'm guessing this won't be here long.

You're gonna be hard pressed to find a commercial instrument lighter than 7.8 lbs. my suggestion would be to play from a seated position, Try one of these http://www.comfortstrapp.com/, get one of these http://www.barkerbass.com/, or start playing piccolo

You might want to ask on the Reverend owner's thread here: The Reverend Club (part 6)
(Have you considered getting a steinberger bass?)
On a serious note, do you tense up your shoulders when you play? You can build up a lot of tension over 4 hours. What kind of strap did you use?

Light, great neck, and tone that just bursts through.

3 whiplashes, really bad back and neck
3 of my basses are custom made and weigh approx. 6.2 lbs each
I have to have Short Scale basses only (small hands)
Reverends are 34"....though I'd love a SS Reverend, Steinbergers are 34".....
Frankly don't have that many choices when you have to have a 30" so I've had to have custom builds (expensive) but I can play....that's the only way
Thanks for the references..........I'll check out Barker and see if they have SS
ps. I have neotech straps
