FS: The ugliest Musicmaster Bass Ever

Sign in to disble this ad
Today we have a 1976 Musicmaster short scale bass that has had a pretty rough life. At some point some yoyo decided to refinish it and it's the worst job I've ever seen. The electronics appear to be original but a lot of the screws and the knobs are not.

It came to me without strings so I adjusted the truss rod (works fine) installed a set of Chrome Flats and did a basic setup. She plays real nice with deep tone and the electronics work as they should. No case so she'll come wrapped in a box with the neck and body wrapped separately.

$275 shipped to the lower 48.

There are plenty of pics here:

Thanks!

Since it's still yours, you may of course feel free to call it ugly(& I'm not disagreeing, mind you)but that's the first one of those that I've actually liked. I'm not normal.

What did they use...

to remove the finish? A beaver on meth? A mound of pissed off termites that had just been sprayed by Terminex? Or maybe they tied it to the back of the pickup and drove around for a week.

It does have some mojo...

That looks like a diamond in the rough - depending on the critical structural stats, that is... With just a little (or a lot) of TLC, that thing could be super cool!

My wife would shoot me if I bought it, however... BUT, if I could, I think I would.

Consider this a bump for a potential gem!

I love bad refin's because they bring a great player's axe down into a player's price range.

In this case way down!! (I can't imagine more mojo to be found for under $300.)

I have taken basses is worst shape and turned them into nice pieces. On this bass, it looks like someone had a few beers to many and too much time on their hands.

Someone will have a fun project if they want to restore it. My first bass was a Fender Music Master. Good Luck on your sell. I would be happy to trade you for it if you decide to take trade offers.

I'd be open to trade offers, just not basses at this time. I need to move a few more actually.
