FS: The ULTIMATE 2010 Fender Am Dlx Jazz!!

Sign in to disble this ad
This will probably be the best 2010 or newer Fender am dlx jazz bass you've ever played. Why? Because I spent 2 years waiting for the right one with the right weight (9.0 lbs) & balance and the most beautiful grain I could find. Additionally, It's been modified for ultimate playability and tone (subjective of course ):

- PLEK by Mike Lull ($285) (night and day difference!!)
- Setup by Mike Lull (price inc. with PLEK)
- Sadowsky Single Coil Pickups installed by Mike Lull ($200 with install)
- Custom Tortoise shell pickguard ($100?)
- Electronics Shielded ($100ish) by Fender tech
- Dunlop Strap-Locks ($15)

The bass is $1600 new with $700 in incredible mods to make this one of the best classic-styled basses utilizing modern comforts and superior building techniques (graphite reinforcement, PLEK, contoured heel, shielded SC pickups etc.). If you've never had a bass that was Plek'd then you don't know what you're missing. The feel and playability is unbelievably improved. I get it done to all my basses and it has improved every one considerably. The Sadowsky pickups are also so well-shielded that I had to call them back thinking they accidentally sent me the hum-cancelling.

Some of the pics below were taken by the previous owner and some by me, so some of them still show the OEM N3 pickups installed (which will be included with the bass, as well as the black pick guard pictured. The 60's style rest shown below was just glued on with short screws and will also be included.)

Comes with OHSC and case candy.

I'm selling this bass for several reasons. 1. Every gig I play seems to require a 5-string and I keep putting a 4-string in the arsenal and never seem to get a chance to gig it. This bass has never been gigged by me or the previous owner from what I am told. 2. I don't like things of value not getting used. This bass is too good not to be gigged and played more often. It needs a good owner. 3. I'd like another cab. My 210 isn't enough for some of the rock gigs and outdoor shows I do. I never buy gear until I've sold off other gear. Just a GAS rule I've made for myself.

With all the work done ($700 worth) to make it a superior-playing and sounding bass, I can let her go for $1650 firm shipped in the ConUS.

The only trade I'd consider on this deal is a partial trade for a Bergantino HS210. Absolutely nothing else, so please don't ask.

PM me with any questions about anything. Check my feedback. Take care and thanks for lookin'!

You sir, are the consummate salesman .

After having two basses Plek'd (my Ric and Hill) then setup by the Music Gallery in Highland Park I can tell you the process is worth every penny.

What a beauty... if it was stock I'd probably jump on it. The N3 pickups are pretty good, why did you can em? The shielding job I hear is a must. The PLEK is nice too.

There is only 1 bass I have my mind set on, & its a 2010/2011 Fender MIA J Deluxe. Could be the best Fender ever made.

Thanks for all the PMs and nice words!

Tunaman, it will come with the N3s as well if you wanna take it back to stock. They are really good pickups, but I think there are much better out there. The N3s are not nearly as well shielded as aftermarket pickups like the Sadowskys. I got rid of a lot of noise when I switched over. The surprising part is that the N3s are "noiseless" and the Sadowskys are single coil, but the Sads are definitely much quiter.

The Sads also sound a little more balanced and organic. I think the N3s sound a little more electronic, IMO. This was true with my last Am Dlx when I switched to Nordies. I like the more natural sound I get from Nordies and Sadowskys, etc. The N3s are good, but you'll only get so good from a stock pickup, IMO/IME, which is why I always upgrade form stock pickups and am always happy I did so. Then again, I don't often buy stock basses. I usually get custom jazzes like Lulls, Sadowskys, etc. which obviously already have "aftermarket" pickups, as it were.

Well, I've got a buyer tentatively lined up that I'm holding this for. I'll update if anything becomes official in the next couple of days.

Note: I did right in bold and italic text that I am only interested in one particular trade with a Bergantino HS210, so please don't offer me any more trades of any kind. I'm not interested at the moment and I will not reply to your PMs. Thx!

+1 to all of the above. Probably the best Fender has made outside of some of their custom shop stuff, which is way overpriced compared to the competition, IMO.
