FS: Upgraded Classic White KSD proto-J5(Aguilar OBP-3)

Sign in to disble this ad
I am selling my KSD proto J5 because I have my eye on something else and gas has taken over. I have only had this bass for several months now it is in excellent shape. I did not like the original preamp so I added an Aguilar OBP-3 with the switchable mids to sweeten up the tone. Now this bass really shines and I think I am going to regret giving her up but the GAS is to strong right now. Comes with the classic white paint job which I have not seen around these parts before so it is kinda unique. Nice low action and good playability. I am looking for $650 shipped. It is in excellent shape and no dings.

Controls are Volume(PP active/passive), Blend, Mid(PP Mid frequency), Stacked treble and bass.

I believe it is around 10 pounds. She is solid but I usually don't have a problem playing her on long gigs.

What a cool looking bass. Ash body? Interesting pickup placement as well - any chance you have sound clips of this one? Good luck with the sale...can't say I'm really in the market, but I'm definitely intrigued.

I bet the OBP-3 really makes that thing sing! I had one a while back and I thought of doing the same thing.

Bump for a great value!

paint job

Robear22,

Did that paint job come from factory like that or do you know who did it?

It looks sweet, I would love to hear a clip with that preamp in it.

I don't want to answer for Robear22 but to the best of my knowledge KSD did produce these 70's models in natural and white and the 60's models in red and tobaccoburst. Not sure if these colors are still in production though. I use to own a natural 5'er with Nordies and Auder pre. Very nice.

see link - http://www.basscentral.com/2003/ksd.shtml

Very tempting!!!!

I am assuming it is an Ash body because it is the 70's model. That is the same with the pickup placement. I read in a KSD thread that the placement was a little off so don't qoute me on that one.

No I do not have a case or a gig bag due to the length of the bass. The one bag I have that fits I am keeping.

It is a factory paint job. That is how I got the bass. I am the only owner.
