FS: Upgraded Lakland 55-01 w/NTMB preamp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

This bass is SOLD.

Up for sale is a 2002 model Lakland 55-01 5-string bass (35" scale). Last month the preamp was upgraded to a new Bartolini 5.2 A/P (active/passive) preamp, and added a brand new Switchcraft jack. I recently restrung with round wounds.

The only flaw is a minor finish crack near one of the tone pots, which occurred during the preamp install.

This thing sounds great! Massive low end on the B string, lots of sustain. The only reason I'm selling it is I really tend to prefer 4-string passives, and would prefer to have the cash toward that end (or just to pay some bills).

Looking for $550 shipped, or best offer. I'm also willing to reduce the price for those fairly local to the DC/MD/VA/PA/WV/DE area if you want to meet halfway to arrange a pickup. Payment via PayPal.

I'm possibly open for trades or trade with cash, including four string passive basses (anything with a Darkstar pickup, G&L, or Lakland Skyline Decade/Dunn/Glaub), higher end effects pedals (delays, reverbs, compressors, EHX POG2 or Voice Box), etc., Orange or Trace Elliot cabs, or any kind of all-tube amps (guitar or bass). Outright sale greatly preferred.

Thanks,
Clay

Slimycat: Yes, the action feels right on to me. Sounds great, no issues in the neck whatsoever. Just that one ding down by the tone pots.

VG: PM replied.

Still available!

I forgot to mention, for those interested in the weight of the Lakland, it registers 10.4 pounds on the bathroom scale. Despite the heft it feels really balanced without dive when playing.

Datsaxguy: I'm not sure -- I'm the second owner of the bass so I'm not sure what the setup was when it was new. It's a 2002 model. If you happen to know if Laklands were Plek'd back then, that would likely be the answer.

Bump...feel free to offer cabs, etc. for trade. If you're local to the MD/DC/VA area, willing to trade for stuff besides gear. Make an offer!

How different was the new pre over the old pre? I just ordered the same Bart pre to upgrade my 55-01.

DWBass,

This thread sums up pretty well what the NTMB will offer over the stock MK-1 preamp. This is what convinced me to do the upgrade.
