I don't know what I can say about this other than I took it in a partial trade from another TB member when he ordered a bass to be built for him. Now I rarely accept trades on any level. But this one was interesting for two reasons.
First it, was a low-end trade deal that didn't compromise my margin on the custom job. So it was low risk.
Second, I saw this as a nice smallish bass that could be easily upgraded and given to one of my nephews or nieces. But none of them are any where near wanting to play bass. I'm not going to hold it anymore.
So here we are. The bass was less than 3 months old when I got it from the guy. It's pretty much mint condition. Here's what we did:
1. We pulled out the cheap Samick electronics and replaced them with Seymour Duncan Basslines Hot Stack pickups STK's (P-bass and J-bridge). These are the humcancelling brand that sell for over $120 together. I also replaced the pots, the wiring and jack with higher quality parts.
2. I had a tortoise shell pickguard cut. Samick does not make those kind of guards.
In it's day 2008-ish the bass sold for $189. That's what the sales receipt said for the guy that bought it.
I got a road runner gig bag for it. Bass sounds really nice now.
I'd like to get $240 for it shipped with the gig bag. I'll also include a new matching brown leather strap.
Please feel free to ask questions. I'm anxious to sell this.
Thanks,
Jeff
