FS USA early model Lakland, highly figured woods, Barts......SOLD

Hey, folks.

A family member is in some dire financial straits, so since I haven't been playing much in the last several months, this bass is regretfully up for sale.

Early handcrafted model (serial number in the high 200s, shown below).

Frets are brand new, action is amazing. Recently refretted (fully) and setup by the craftsmen at the Lakland factory. Most comfortable bass I've ever played. These necks are magic.

Amazing figuring in the maple in the neck, awesome grain in the quilted maple top. No noticeable flaws to disclose...cosmetically very good, no major scratches or anything. Even the back still looks good. Sounds great.

When I bought it, upon inspection there were a few unexpected issues. The input jack didn't work, the preamp wasn't fully functional, and one of the knobs was scratchy. I took it to Nordstrand and they replaced the jack and knob, and reattached the wires for the preamp that had come disconnected. All fixed.

Next, I had to get it refretted if I wanted the kind of action I thought it should have. So I did, because it deserved it and I deserved it. I sent it to Lakland and had them do it themselves. It's a beautiful job.

So, here it is. Includes hard G@G case with two keys. Not sure it's the original, but I believe so.

Bought it for $1,900 plus shipping, and put almost $400 into it to make it what this bass should be.

$1,875 plus shipping if using Paypal
$1,825 plus shipping if using US Postal service money order.

I have nearly 300 perfect feedbacks on Ebay and about a dozen on here, all from this year when I started playing. So I describe accurately. Imagine such a thing!

Price is firm. I need the cash. I might consider a partial trade for a J-style like a MIM, but I need to clear $1,500 cash. No other trades, as if I didn't need the cash I would not get rid of this. I may sell my good amp as well, so stay tuned.

SOLD!

Additional info...

Boy, I forgot some good info. Sorry about that.

Weight is 9.0 pounds

Nut width is 40.84mm

Fretboard radius appears to be 10 degrees.

I've also had a few questions about shipping costs. I'm not a typical buyer/seller, so I can't easily give an accurate quote, especially as I have yet to pack it up.

In my experience, however, costs tend to range from 50 to 75 dollars. Depending where you are, I'd prefer to estimate it like this and will be happy to send you the receipt and refund you in the unlikely event you paid a bit too much. I don't mind eating 10 bucks or so if I underestimate. In the times I've done this I've typically had to kick in a bit of money rather than give a refund. I don't try to make money on the shipping. I just like things to be EASY.

All sales are final, as is always the case when I sell anything used. But again, I have perfect feedback for a reason.

I also wanted to add that I ship fast and pack well. I have the container that Lakland used to ship the bass to me, so it will be packed professionally by me. I will send you the tracking info immediately and behave in a professional manner so everyone's happy. That's how I like deals to go. Someone will be happy with this buy, and they will be a much better player than I am. I'll stumble along with my P bass. Wa wa waaaaaaaaaaaa.

Thanks!

Folks, this is a really good guy to do business with, and a nice guy to boot. And he's got an early US Lakland - don't let this get away!

I'm not knocking newer Laklands, but these older Laklands have necks that...well...are simply unmatched. The most playable and comfortable neck I've ever played.

Interesting to see that 'line' in the grain or finish on the face near the bridge pick up area. What is that from ?
