S O L D ! I bought this here a few months back, and while I appreciate what it is, it's simply not getting played due to a combination of redundancy in my arsenal and a growing preference for short-scale basses. As such, I'm just going to move it back into the wild, since it should be getting playtime. Here's some info on this particular bass, culled from an
earlier listing:
G&L SB-2
- made in the USA
- fretted maple board
- 1.5" nut width, satin neck
- 8.1lbs
- black body
- crinkle black pickguard, neck plate and bridge
- 1993 manufacture (according to the
linked ad)
- modified from original vol/vol (no tone) to stacked P-vol/tone and J-vol controls (essentially vol/vol/tone)
- 3 Bolt neck
- Bone nut replacing the cracked original
- One replacement Schaller tuner
It plays very well, everything functions at 100%, the frets are in unbelievably good shape (they were crowned and leveled before I got it), and of course it is super-hot thanks to the mighty MFD split-coil pick-up. This is no case queen, and has been put to work (I've tried to show that as best as I could in the crappy iPhone photos): some dings, finish wear and checking, et cetera. Includes a good hybrid case-style bag (it's what it came to me in). Asking what I paid,
$650 $600 price dropped to $550 shipped (via FedEx Ground) and paypaled within the lower 48. The only (partial) trades that would woo me would be a Catalinbread Pareidolia (or possibly another tremolo) or a T. Rex Octavius; also, I might be interested in a mahogany Kala UBass (prefer fretless, but who knows?). Pics (check the
linked ad for less crappy pics than these):
