FS: Valenti PJ5 #27 (USACG)

I just got this bass...its light weight, plays and sounds awesome, and is strung up with brand new Pedulla Steels. Unfortunately, I'm quite smitten by my LEJ and i'm GASing for another one, so this has to go. This is the first 5-er Nino made with the USACG parts and was formerly owned by TB-er AJ Brown (You can see his rave reviews here: Review: Valenti Vintage PJ5 #027), and has been around TB a while I think.

Specs:
* Alder Body (looks like between a '59 and Tobacco burst)
* Maple Neck (with Vintage tint) and Rosewood board (12" radius, 22 frets, clay dots)
* Nordstrand NP5 and NJ5 pickups (both hum-cancelling)
* Aguilar OBP-1 Preamp
* Controls: Vol - Blend - VTC - Treble/Bass
* Push/Pull for Active/Passive on Volume
* Hipshot "B" Bridge (19mm spacing)
* Hipshot Ultralight Tuners

The bass is definitely not in MINT condition but there are only a few cosmetic flaws...the most notable are a couple dings on the back of the bass about the size of a pencil eraser. Also has various scuffs and scratches from normal play...i'm guessing this bass has been gigged at some point. Again, no issues with sound or playability.

My asking price is $1550 $1500 $1475 shipped.

Its possible you could tempt me with a trade (especially for an LEJ/LEPJ with a non-maple board, or a Skjold).

Here are some pics:

34" scale and looks to be about 9 lbs on my fish scale (probably not super accurate). definitely feels light though.

I was the first to own this one and remembered that I absolutely loved the tone. The only reason I sold it was that I was going back to fours. The neck profile on this is VERY comfortable, and the electronics combo is top-notch. Whoever gets this one will not be disappointed.

Wow, that's one of the nicest Valenti's out there. That burst is unique, but really beautiful.

bump for updated pics...nothing great but shows what it currently looks like:

This one shows the dings on the back. You can clearly make out one but the other is hard to see...

Which do you prefer and why... LEJ or Valenti? 4 or 5 string?

I prefer the LEJ (which is why i want another), but I do think the Valenti is an awesome instrument. I seem to always think I want a PJ but when I get it its not quite the tone I want. The LEJ just seems to have the right "feel" for me as far as neck dimensions and spacing, and the sound is just more up my alley.

I really only play 5ers, but i suppose its possible for a 4banger to wow me in a trade.

+1 The feel of an LEJ is unbeatable! I'm jonesing for a a P or PJ 5 34" scale.... but I'm not very familiar with the Valenti product...
