FS: VERY RARE Fender PB-551 (BOXER Series) Precision Bass, MIJ '87 - AWESOME!

Sign in to disble this ad
PRICE DROP: $450 SHIPPED!! SOLD
Hey folks:

For Sale is a truly awesome, and VERY RARE, Made in Japan, 1987 Black Fender PB-551 (Boxer Series) Precision Bass with stunning matching Black Headstock. This series was only made for a few years and is very hard to find and harder in this great shape.

I recently acquired this great bass and it definitely lives up to expectations. Exactly what one should / would expect from an awesome, vintage MIJ Fender P-bass. I have absolutely NO complaints. I just need to raise some cash (GAS) for another need.

Looking ideally for a local NY/NJ/CT/Philly sale, but willing to sell/ship to a fellow TBer for same price.

Here is the Craigslist post with full details, description and lots of pictures.
Click here: Fender PB-551 Precision Bass Guitar, MIJ, RARE - L@@K!

Asking $495 $450 shipped CONUS.

The Bass/Gig bag will be packed and shipped securely and professionally. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for looking and enjoy!

Joey

You might get a bit more hits if you mention that its a Precision Bass Special, cause this was like the single pup counter part to the JBS. (google Jazz Bass Special if you don't know it alread)

Thanks for all. I made reference to the relation to the Power P Bass Special from the 80s in my C-list post (See my original post). Although this is a different, much rarer, bass than the more common P-bass P/J Power bass Special. Appreciate the interest!

Thanks! The bass is great in every way.

Appreciate the trade offers so far. I am not ruling it out, but would prefer a straight sale. Nothing appetizing so far...

Best,

Joey

Sorry Joe, I have to agree. I opened the thread hoping to see a p/j, but to my surprise, this pops up.
I love the rounder edges on this bass compared to others. Just too cool. If I had the dough, AND needed another bass, It would be mine.

Yes, I know. This is not the Power P Special. Just its relative as mentioned in my original post - see the c-list ad. Fender PB-551 Precision Bass Guitar, MIJ, RARE - L@@K!

These don't show up too often. It's the rarer, cooler, and deeper, PB-551 Boxer (E) Series. This P-Bass is totally awesome in every way.

Hey, I just saw one listed on ebay for $800, and mine is nicer (IMHO) and in better shape... VTG Fender Precision Bass Guitar w Hard Case Japan '85 | eBay

Thanks for the complement and interest!

Sorry just curious:

What's the nut width; is it P's common 1,75"? Or 1.625" (like my CIJ P)? or maybe Jazz like 1.5"?

Thanks
