Up for your consideration is this sweet 1965 Mosrite Ventures Bass Guitar. It is a great player and still begging to be played which is why I've decided to part with it. I can't use it enough. Someone needs to honor it by playing out in public and letting it bark nice and loud. I've been using it for a few years and absolutely love the "speed frets" and huge output that these Mosrites are known for.
The frets show very minor wear which is surprising for it's age. I believe they are still the originals. It has had flatwound strings on it as long as I've had it and must have for most of it's life. Tons of life left. There is a slightly raised fret around the 17th that would be easy to fix but I'd rather not mess with anything that would lower it's value to you.
Slender neck with nicely aged cream binding with black side-dots. Beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with micro dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Nickel, open-back tuners in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" metal nut; 30 1/2" scale length. The neck is straight and feels so comfortable. Combine that with Mosrites' speed frets and low action and this baby nearly plays itself.
Only three non-original parts that I can find:
The previous owner installed a custom made pickup in the bridge position around 1983. It's pretty great in it's own right. It's quieter than the neck pickup (what pickup isn't?) but gained up reminds me of the growl you get out of the bridge pickup in a fender jazz bass.
The body must have been refinished because it is so clean. It's really well done with an inky blue color and nice poly finish.
And, lastly, I don't believe these knobs are the originals.
This baby is still got all it's original mojo and plays just like it should. Smooth, fast and fat. Just the way we like em.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I'm underpricing due to the lack of HSC and the refinish. Asking
