I bought this cool Vintage Kay Short Scale Bass from a fellow talkbasser while on a short scale bass bender. I've decided to stick with the Fender MIJ Mustang that I bought to share with my daughter. This cool little bass is in good shape with just light players wear and some patina on the chrome and such. The single pickup at the neck sounds great. Big, beefy, punchy and dubby and not like a typical mud bucker. I have the action set medium low, as it felt good with with the lower tension of the short scale, but it could be slammed as the neck is straight and the truss rod works fine.
$225 shipped conus.
Thanks for looking!

| | | | Nice!
Any idea how the neck compares to the current Squier short-scale Jaguar? I'm playing one of those now and enjoying it. Was considering getting another one to tinker with, but something different would be cool. Short scales are much kinder to my old hands....
The frets look flat on top. Am I seeing a lot of fret wear, or is that just the lighting?
Scale length? I just read that Kay made some as short as 25".
Thanks!

thanks for pointing that out! |

| | | | I'm very tempted. There aren't a lot of short scale options, and this one does look cool.
The only basses I've played have been a couple of Squiers(VM Jazz, Affinity P, my current short-scale Jaguar), so it's hard for me to imagine how it would sound & feel. Comments/advice welcome. |

| | | | Thanks. That's what I suspected -- the frets look flat, but it seemed too even to be from wear.
How's the balance? |
