Hey all,

I lost my job last night , which unfortunately means that I most likely unable to buy the fretless Warwick Corvette off of somebody that I said I would. But, I really want that bass. And I'm tired of playing fretted. I like the sound and feel of fretless SO much better.

SO...

Up for sale is my trusty Warmoth J-Bass. I put this together in May, and it has served me well since then. It works great, the tuners NEVER go out of tune, and the pots don't scratch or anything. However, there is a LOT of wear on the bass. The body is scratched and dented, pretty much only on the back. I only put a thin polyurethane finish on the body, and I used to wear studded belts. I also cannot for the life of me get the wear to show up in pictures because of the light grain of the body. I will try to get some up. I'm sure if you just sand down and refinish the body it will be fine.

That being said, I ordered a Warmoth J-Bass Body blank to replace the body, but I don't really have the time, money or tools to cut it out. If you'd like that with the bass, it will only be an additional $100.

Here are the specs:

-Warmoth J-Bass Body
-Warmoth Maple/Maple J-Bass Neck w/ Stainless Steel 6230 Frets
-Dimarzio Model J pickup set
-Schaller BML Tuners
-Allparts/Schaller high mass/quick release bridge
-Graphtech Graphite Nut
-Warmoth Tortoiseshell pickguard
-Black hardware, including the control plate
-Planet Waves gold plated stereo jack

+I put a total of $1100 into it, I would like to see $500 or this weekend ONLY $450 SHIPPED out of it. It will include a hardshell case.

Feel free to PM me with any questions. I will get pictures of the body blank and the body wear up by the end of the day. Also, I should have two more positive feedbacks, but the other people haven't returned the positive feedback I sent.

Thanks for looking!

And replied!

I forgot to put this in the OP, but I would not like any trades. Like I said, I lost my job and I am ONLY selling this because I told Eno I would buy his Warwick which I have wanted for like 3 years.

Thanks J-Builder!

I have no access to a scale, but if I were to guestimate it I would put it around 10 pounds. Probably slightly under.

I'm feelin ya Kurcatovium!

Thanks Burlington! I can listen to them all day. Dan's basslines are so melodic...

I've had a few nibbles but nothing has come through yet.

Still can't get any pictures of the wear. When I take a picture of the back it looks perfect. My photography skills leave something to be desired

Here is my response to a PM I received. I thought the post might benefit from some of the info in it.

For shipping, it will be $25.95 Priority or $15.30 Parcel Post. I would be happy to refund any excess if it ends up costing less.

I do take PayPal, though I would prefer a Money Order mainly because of the Paypal fee and I am paying with a money order for the bass I am replacing this one with However, if you absolutely must do PayPal I will not deny you that.

NO issues at all besides the cosmetic ones. Stays in tune for days, the stainless steel frets are in perfect condition, and the wiring is not crackly at all. Never had any problems with it.

I just put new Daddario ProSteels on it, so it is a great slapper and chords really ring. I was worried about the tone with my old dead strings because I am trying out for a soul band that requires some slapping, but I stuck some new strings on there and it rang better than their recordings. For fingerstyle it sounds a little fuller than most jazz basses, because of the Dimarzio and sometimes it even gets the grind of a Stingray. Picking it is super bright and growly (Think Death Cab for Cutie's latest album but with more bridge pup definition) Unfortunately, I prefer the much rounder, woodier sound of a fretless with dead strings .

The neck shape is much thinner but slightly deeper than a Fender Precision bass neck. It is 1 1/2" thick at the neck but not quite as thin at the neck as a Fender Jazz. Warmoth says the profile matches that of a 60's Fender Jazz. The neck is very solid (Warmoth puts two steel bars in the neck). I have never had it warp and the intonation has always been good for me, and I consistently play it above the 12th fret.

In the nature of full disclosure I did notice a minor dent on the side of the neck while I was playing this afternoon. You cannot feel it when you are playing; the only way I noticed it was because I was running my finger down the side, and even then it was minor.

Once again, feel free to PM me with any questions.

Regarding PayPal, if you have the buyer send you payment as Payment Owed or Gift you will not be charged any PayPal fees. I do that with all my transaction here.

Go for it!

Feel free to make an offer. The worst I can say is, "No, thank you," and then pleasantly smile in your general direction.

By offer I mean cash, since I am selling this to buy a specific bass from another TBer.

Bump! Anyone feel like $475 + Shipping?

I played it for my church last night, and it was just way too aggressive for my taste. Lots o' grind and growl. Maybe that will float someone else's boat.

Would there be more interest if I were to post sound clips?

It would be somewhat of a pain to get them up, but if people want them I will record some stuff.
