FS: Warwick Fortress Flashback 5 - Hard-to-find passive 5-string, lots of pictures!

Sign in to disble this ad
For Sale Only: Warwick Fortress Flashback 5, $1000 shipped conus in non-original HSC ***SOLD***

These are very hard to find, less than half of the <700 Flashbacks made were 5 string models! All original '96 with passive electronics, MEC Lipstick PUP's with Single Coil in the neck position and Humbucker at the bridge; controls for Volume/Pan/Tone. Burgundy wine Ash body, Wenge neck, JAN-I nut and 2Tek bridge. Comes with original recessed straplocks. The bass in is very good condition with only light player wear, most notably some string rash on the PUPs, light buckle rash and a few small dings on the edge of the body. The bass is well balanced and plays & sounds excellent(great neck!), with growly Jazzy tones from the neck PUP and Pbass tones from the bridge.

**Edit: Here are some new pictures from all angles, including the areas of wear; As you can see, the minor wear is hard to find, in picture or in person-

And finally, one without flash- (the ones with flash capture the natural color well)

*I'm not interested in any trades at the moment, thanks for looking!

SOLD

Gahh--seems like these always pop up for sale right when I can't do anything about it. Anybody need any extra GAS? I got plenty to spare.

I'm unsure of the exact weight and do no have any kind of scale at my house, but I can tell you that it isn't the lightest bass; I've only owned a few basses in my time, but of them the Flashback is heavier than my old USA Dlx Jazz 5 and Hwy1 4string Pbass, and closer in weight to the MIM Jazz 5 that preceded them, though the Flashback does not suffer from neck dive like any of the Fenders I've owned (due to the 2Tek bridge I imagine).

If an exact weight is important, let me know and I'll try to arrange something asap!

Great playing basses, my drummer has one. Good luck with the sale. Kind of off topic but were these only available in red? I know the 4 strings were available in several colors but I don't think I've ever seen a 5 string that wasn't red.

I haven't seen anything in writing to confirm, but I believe this to be the case- 5 strings in red only, and the 4 strings in 3 colors (ive only seen 3 anyway); considering how few were produced, I would say it's fairly likely.

There is nothing w/the word 'Rockbass' on it that even reMOTEly resembles this bass. If it were a 4 I'd have already made it happen by now.

free bump - I just picked up a 4-string version today, having already owned a flashback with a 2-piece warwick bridge. I can attest that the 2Tek gives the flashback a massive sound!

I had always read there were like 7-800 of these, but recent inquiries in the Warwick forums have turned up the figure of only 50 or 60 Flashbacks with 2Tek bridge produced!!!!!!!
