I bought this from MusiciansFriend a month ago when they were on Clearance (they are discontinued from Yamaha). I wanted to try one and $299 was too cheap to pass up.

It is really nice, but it doesn't really give me anything that I don't already have in terms of sound and, quite frankly, the color doesn't really do anything for me. If it were black or the Red Wine (red burst to black), I would probably keep it.

So, I am set to return it to MF for a full refund. But, I figured I would offer it up here, first, in case somebody wants to take advantage of the price.

I paid $299.99 w/free shipping and MF has issued me an RA # and a pre-paid return shipping label, so I am set to get a full refund. If you want it, I'm going to have to be able to pocket $300 after all is said and done. So, call it $350 via Paypal, shipped anywhere in the CONUS. I'm not trying to make any money. I just don't want to lose money on shipping and Paypal fees when I have the option to return it with free shipping and a full refund.

It will be in the Yamaha box with all the stuff that came with in, unopened, and packed back up just like it came to me. And yes, there is some additional packing material in the box that's wasn't stuck in there yet when I took the picture.

If you're curious how it sounds, I recorded it back to back with my Fender P and started a thread about that here:

Pick the actual Fender

The recording was done with TI Flats on it, but I put the stock strings back on it before I packed it up, so don't be thinking you're going to score some sweet TIs with this puppy.

I've only got a few days to get it in the mail back to them, so if you want it, let me know soon. Being Wed night before New Year's, I'll probably just wait and drop it at the UPS Store on Monday, if nobody antes up for it before then.

Oh, and I failed to weigh it before I boxed it back up and I ain't unpacking it now. I was just playing it back to back with my MPG, which weighs 8.6# and it felt a little heavier than that. I would guess between 9 and 9.5#, but I make no guarantees.

If you've been thinking you want a 5-string Precision or PJ type bass, you really should try one of these. As you can see from the poll I posted in that other thread, with the P pickup soloed, it's darn near impossible, even for a bunch of TB'ers, to distinguish it from an actual Fender P (with Fender '62 RI pickups and a Warmoth neck - full disclosure).

No skin off my nose if nobody wants it. I'm not going to make or lose any money either way. But, these are discontinued and used ones are going for nearly what I need for this new one.

Never mind on this. I'm not detecting any interest. I'm off today. The UPS store down the street is still open. I'm taking it down to drop off now.
