FS: Yamaha BB5000 5 string. MIJ. HSC.

Sign in to disble this ad
Yamaha BB5000 5 string made in Japan. Outstanding bass guitar that holds true to what everyone says about the original Yamaha BB series. Built like a boutique bass for much much cheaper. The Low B is strong on this bass...I don't play much with anything lower than a Low D and this bass holds the fundamental in the Low B. Nice and tight string response.

All original hardware, pickups, and finish. There are some user scrapes, finish cracks, and nicks in the bass (look at the pics posted). This is a true player but looks nicer and is not beat up. My BB5000 is the original, tighter string spacing version. I am a 4 string player, 19mm spacing, and I don't mind this bass. It took me a little while to get used to slappin' on it, but I looked at it as a challenge to better develop my hand technique.

Ask any questions you like. Hard shell case included! Don't miss this deal...these are getting expensive on eBay and are getting harder to find. The white has antiqued/yellowed a bit and is super sexy with the gold hardware!

PRICE: $799 shipped in the Con. USA. I will ship outside of the USA, but you'll have to pay 100% for shipping. Thanks!

Bump for a great bass! These basses have such a cool growly tone, I wish I never got rid of my old one.

I would if I could, believe me!!! Your asking price is very fair and these basses are under appreciated.

Thanks for your comments about the BB series. Sounds like it is time for you to sell some stuff when then grab a piece of your bass playing history in this BB5000! That is what I usually do when GAS hits.

Bathroom scale: 9lbs. It is lighter than my 1979 Yamaha BB1200.

I have a couple quick questions:

Is this neck-thru?

Do you know how the tone on these compare to a Fender PJ?

Neckthrough, yes. 5 piece neck w/ maple and mahogany in the neck. Body is alder w/ mahogany wings.

I've owned Yamaha PJ's, ESP PJ, Mike Lull PJ, and G&L PJ.
The tone is very similar to what you'd get with a combination of a P and J pickup in this configuration, but a little more refined. The neck through adds sustain and the larger body size, I believe, really affects the richness of tone from these older BB's. You can make it sound like a P or the bridge midrange bite/cut of a J's bridge pickup solo'd. Tons of fantastic tones in this 5 string! These are like Boutique P's on steroids.

These are really cool basses. In fact, this one is identical to the one I had back in the "touring" days. ( Even had Lee Roy Parnell sign the back of the headstock for me.) I miss that bass, and seeing this brought back some good memories for me.

I can't tell you how badly I'd love to have one of these...especially with this narrow spacing. It's not in the cards for me at this time but someone is going to get a rediculous bass for sure.

Mine so identical to this one that even the dings were about in the same spots as well as the wear on the pickup surrounds. Another bump for a cool bass with lots of tone.

Hmmmm....interesting! I grabbed this bass from a store in Nashville. Did you happen to sell your bass in Nashville at some point? Who knows...?

Someone buy my Larrivee Acoustic (Guitar) for this price and I'll buy this bass That would be a smokin' deal on my guitar and get me one of the basses I've always loved.

Alternately - buy this bass for me and I'll give you my Larrivee in trade.....??

Oh well, I'll probably have to watch it go.......

I've wanted one of these for years, and I think this is a great deal. They don't come around too often.

Cheers,
