Incredible basses. Built like tanks. Crystal clear tone and sustain for days. Incredibly precise and even feel. And the price seems right!

BUMP for the best bass Yamaha has ever released! (IMO of course!)

What is the string spacing at the bridge? And I'm assuming it's neck through?

I'll take these Qs! The TRB-6P had 19mm spacing at the bridge, so I'd assume the 5s did as well. And yes, all TRB-Ps were NT. The TRB-IIs were the first of the TRB series BOs, I believe.

Buy this beauty!

How do the tone of these compare to the tone of say a TRB5?

The TRB5 from the newer series with the soap bars? Generic, meh.

The original TRB series? Classic, versatile, yet distinctive.

Can you tell I'm biased? :-) In all seriousness, I don't think you can compare them. Perhaps Ibanez vs. high end custom. I think the original TRB's were the only mass produced custom you could find then, and they hold up well against anything new these days IMO.

If you want to actually hear one...grab a 1990's Patitucci album.
