An awesome Yamaha BB5000 and RBX5. Both are among the earliest 5-strings produced (both with PJs with narrow spacing), from the company who pioneered production 5ers. The 1986 BB5000 is in really good shape for a 27 year old instrument. It's black, neck-through and nice and powerful. A wonderful piece, comes with a hardshell case. Made in Japan. This one is $775 shipped ConUS. THE BB5000 IS SOLD!
The 1987 RBX5 is in pretty good shape, maybe a little more a player. It's the earlier RBX body. Only real issues are the gold hardware has not aged so gracefully, and the nut's B slot could be a little lower (not that I minded), but it plays, sounds and feels like a champ. Made in Taiwan. I have a special place in my heart for this one. This one is $250 $225 $215 shipped ConUS. This is a real steal on a nice, little known Yamaha that sounds wonderful. Can do a real nice P imitation with the P soloed, and the J sound balanced with it. It's a great little bass.
I loved my Yamahas, but I'm reducing my library of bass guitars to Ps. Someone can enjoy what I did. Yamaha basses are awesome!
RBX:

| | Registered User | | | | | You could most probably sell the SR5 for more money than you're asking for the BB. |

This bass is very playable, with a sleek, contemporary look and feel, but it isnt weirdly extreme in appearance. It is lightweight without being insubstantially light - not like a toy. The reach to the nut is comfortable - not out in left field. String spacing is old-school narrow - better players than I have called it a fast and nimble string bed. Fit and finish is Yamaha-tite. And this is another example of Yamaha getting its balance of the P and J pups right. How do they do that all the time?
I think of this as a Corvette on a Miata's platform. I said playable, right? But still puts out a muscular sound.
Ive got two fretted and an unfretted. After a long day at work, I grab this before my Cirrus. An overlooked, forgotten gem.
Not affiliated. Good luck seller, and a lucky buyer.
