FS: ZON Sonus Todd Johnson 5-String - Rare Woods!

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up a TJ4 after realizing that I'm much more comfortable on a 4-string. After much contemplation, I'm putting this one up to find a good home.

I bought this new from Tony @ Planet Bass late July of 2009 and paid $5599. Expensive? Yes, but this bass is spectacular. Here are the specs; I plan on taking some new pics of it tomorrow.

ZON Sonus Todd Johnson Signature 5-String #0801008

* Master Grade Black Redwood Burl Top
* Bubinga Tone Plate
* Matching Black Redwood Burl Peghead
* Spalted Alder Body
* Clear Gloss Finish Body
* 34" Scale
* 26 Fret Phenowood Fingerboard
* Abalone Fingerboard Dot Inlays
* Side Dot Inlays
* Satin Neck Finish
* Bartolini Soapbar Pickups
* Polyfusion TJ 3 Band Preamp (active treble, mid, bass)
* Black Hardware
* ZON Hardshell Case
* Strung E-C or B-G (your choice)

The only alteration I made was sending the bass back to Joe to have him trim the bottom of the fingerboard so there is room to pop.

I'm selling for $3,500 shipped (anywhere in the US). International buyers will be responsible for full shipping costs and taxes.

I may be open to trades for a P-bass (not sure yet), but I must net at least $2,000 in cash depending on the current market value of the bass.

Check or money order is preferred.

Were these pictures taken before the fingerboard was trimmed by Joe? If so could you post a current picture.

Yes. Here are some recent pics. The last one (without the strings) was taken 5 minutes ago. I'm just waiting for a buyer to tell me to string it E-C or B-G.

Absolutely insane.
Feel free to post more pictures of the bass, or even the TJ4, I could stare at these all day long.

Truly one of the very best made basses/(models) on the planet I've played Sadowsky's, Fodera's, Warriors, MTD's, Ken Smith's.....nothing comes close to the Zon TJ's IMO...for numerous reasons.
Good Luck with the sale AJ...
too bad not enough players know about these basses, they really are ahead of their time. I think in years to come they will become collectors items, they are that special. once you play one, you will never go back to an all wood basses or any other bass again.

This beauty is still available. I'm mulling over a trade deal, but I'd rather have an all-cash one.

AJ, you are making New England a toxic GAS environment.
Beautiful bass, good luck with the sale.
