FS: Zon Sonus Unlined Fretless 5

Sign in to disble this ad
This bass has incredible tones, incredible range, from bark and snarl to mellow sweetness. It has fret dot markers on the side of the neck, but no fretlines. It is all black hardware, and even has black Dunlop Dual Straplocks. I'll toss in the black Mega-Bass neoprene strap.

Excellent condition. No dings that I can find.

This bass has the 3-band preamp, and the mid-range frequency switch. Comes with the original Zon case. The hard rectangular kind.

I just measured it, and it's a 34" string length with 17mm string spacing.

I'm asking $1899.99, shipped fedex ground in the USA. PayPal preferred! Happy to have you swing by the house and check it out in person if you happen to be in in the SF Bay Area.

Yeah!!!!!

I must be crazy to sell it. Every time I pick it up, I think Man this sounds good, feels good, plays good, looks good!

It's just not getting any play time at gigs or practices. The Nordy, Zon 4, and Barker basses are getting all the action. Something about having only 4 strings. Dunno why that 5th string is such an obstacle for me.

I think is is a "regular" model, "Sonus 5". But I'll measure it tonight and let you know. I was pretty sure it had a 34" string length. The 519 has a 35" length, and of course the 19mm spacing, while the regular has 34" and 17mm.

However, the pickup placement matches the picture of the 519 on the Zon website, with the neck pickup closer to the neck than on the "regular" Sonus 5.

Rex--- the measuring tape confirms it's a Sonus 5. 34" string length, and 17mm string spacing. So, this is not a Sonus 519.

Does that mean you are ready to buy? This would look sharp in your stocking hung by the mantle with care, in the hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there!

Sorry mate... I gotta have 19mm string spacing. Anything else doesn't feel right.

Where are all the line-haters?
Big expanse of beautiful unlined board here, complete with incredible tone!
plus - end of the year special - none more black!

Bump for a good guy and a great bass.

Looks that way. They are bartolinis, and they look the same as the pickups on my zon sonus special 4. Except for being a 5. But might be different.

Anyone know how to tell?

You see, what I am really wanting is a Zon sonus special 4 string fretless. But it is hard to wait and I am not ready to shell out $ 3600.00 for a new one.

However, I think the pickups in the special are voiced differently. And obviously the neck pickup is closer to the bridge on the special.

I am really after the sound of the special. I could also probably switch out the pickups.

I am interested but would need to know.

Thanks

better ask this kind of question in the Zon Club thread. There are a lot of experts who could answer you about the sound.
Free bump for the Zon anyway!

I sent an email off to Zon. I'll let you know what they say!
