FSO: Carvin B25PF, 5 string fretless, Quilted Maple!

I have a spectacular Carvin Brian Bromberg signature B25PF for sale.
It is a lined fretless with Carvin's "Hard as Nails" finish on the fingerboard. Here are some of the details:

Carvin B25 Fretless
RAD-J pickups with Bromberg pre-amp (Volume, pickup blend, piezo blend, treble, bass, sweepable midrage)
Piezo pickups in the bridge
34" scale
19mm string spacing
Mahogany body
Neck through 5 piece Maple and Walnut neck
Satin finish on the back of the neck
KILLER Quilted Maple top and matching headstock with clear gloss finish
Lined Ebony fingerboard
"Hard as nails" finish on fingerboard
Black hardware
Hard case, all original paperwork and shipping material included.

I'm asking $1400.00 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. You can check out Carvin's bass builder and price one out with all of these upgrades. This bass is a little over 18 months old.

*Full disclosure - there are two small finish bumps on the bottom of the instrument near the strap button. My 2 year old pulled it off its stand and it has two marks. The rest of the instrument is absolutely pristine.

Seems like Carvins always have really beautiful woods. That is a sweet axe.

Beautiful bass. This is one of the configurations I played around with using the Carvin bass builder on their site. It prices out at $1,998 on the Carvin bass builder.

How would you describe the tone and feel?

The tone is very much whatever you make it. The pickups and pre-amp are incredibly versatile. You can dial in as much piezo as you like or none at all, you can favor one pickup or the other, you can sweep and boost or cut mids as you see fit. It really is a wonderful, "do it all" fretless!
With everything set flat and a 50/50 split on the magnetic and piezo pickups, it is a very smooth and even sounding fretless. The mahogany body (in my opinion) lends a nice full richness to the tone and the "hard as nails" finish on the fingerboard has a nice bright tone. I've used round wound nickels on it and have been able to dial in anything from an acoustic upright tone to the classic "Jaco-esque" snarling bridge pickup tone.

The design of the bass is superb. Ergonomically; it feels fantastic, balances perfectly and you have great access to the upper register of the bass. Everything seems logical, natural and exactly where your hands seem to naturally fall which is exactly what Mr. Bromberg was trying to achieve with this design.

I just built out this bass on the bass builder and it came to $2058.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer.

Bump for a beautiful Carvin. Love that top! If I wanted to get axe-murdered by my wife, I'd totally buy another bass, and it would be yours. As it stands, though, GLWTS!

The "hard as nails" finish is definitely the way to go. I absolutely LOVE being able to play with rounds on my fretless. I was reluctant at first and now I am hooked. The hard finish seems to add to the responsiveness of slides up and down to notes as well.

Matt-
Are you still selling this bass? What price are you looking for currently?
I own a Carvin B24 previously owned by Brian and I am in the market for a 5 string carvin B2 frettless. I have 2 basses I am willing to trade including a Fender Jazz bass and a Ned Steinberger Design Electric Upright bass, both valued at $1500, both in perfect condition, if you would be interested in either or both of those to cover some of your price? up to you. Please let me know. I am very interested in your Bass. Thanks!

Fender Jazz Bass (Geddy Lee Signature) One small scratch from my belt on back, otherwise perfect, sounds amazing. (payed $1450)

Ned Steinberger Design NXT Upright bass (4 string)
PERFECT CONDITION- bought brand new, realized I don't need it
Sounds JUST like an upright and weighs nothing (paid $1500)

Again for a reduced price I'd be willing to give you both. Please let me know what you think either way, have a good day!
