FSO Feeler (major GAS attack) - Mike Lull V4 with upgrades

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm having some serious GAS pains after playing a local bass that I now can't live without, so I'm throwing this For Sale Only thread out there as a Hail Mary to raise the funds. I know the market isn't ideal for FSO threads right now, but maybe you've got some Christmas money burning a hole in your pocket for a new piece of kit and this one is definitely worth the look.

Please no trades and no low-balls - I'm perfectly happy hanging on to it if it doesn't sell and I'll more than likely close the thread if the bass I'm salivating over gets sold.

Some details:
  • Mike Lull V4 #278 (late-90s)
  • (upgraded) reverse-P Lindy Fralin pup at the neck
  • (upgraded) Aguilar OBP-1 preamp w/ 18-volt
  • Volume, Volume, Tone w/ push-pull active, Treb/Bass (stacked)
  • Dunlop Straplocks
  • Original soft-side case
There are a couple of small but deep dings above the belly cut-out that go down to the wood and one shallower ding next to the bridge pickup, but aside from some other normal wear and swirling in the finish, it's light on mojo. Also, when I got it, it needed a new push-pull pot and a couple new knobs, plus a setup from Mike himself, so it plays like a dream now. The reverse-P has some great punch and the J with the active EQ has all the burp you could ask for. Altogether a great player.

Asking $1600 $1540 shipped CONUS. PayPal is fine.

More pics available on request.

Weeell, the bass I want is still around and so is my Lull, so time for a bump and a little price drop.

Wow! that's my OLD bass! I owned it in its original V4 state. sold it it to a Seattle-ite who had Lull modify it. bought it back. Gigged it another 2 years before selling it a few years back to fund a CB that I had to have (but no longer have).

It also has a pao ferro board and you can even put it back to a a J/J state if P/J isn't your thing.

Love that bass! Was just thinking about it the other day. If only......

Wow. Great bass. If you decide you are interested in a mint Warrior Signature 4 (neck through) in trade, let me know. I would also love to see some more pictures. Some of the dings if you could. Also, it looks like there are no knobs on the bass/treble stack. Is that correct?

Yeah sorry, that's an old photo from the previous owner. When I had Mike give it a setup, he put new knobs on and replaced the push-pull tone pot. I'll try to get some new photos over the weekend (with my sorry excuse for photography skills) to show the bass with the new knobs and maybe the case (per a request via PM).

Truth be told, I've actually been having a thought about putting a fretless neck on this bass and hanging on to it. Pricing it out doesn't sound cheap, but it might be an interesting change.

Okay, after much thought and giving it some playtime over the weekend, I think I'm going to put this thread on hold for a while. The last couple weeks have seen the GAS pains subside a bit, so I'm not in quite the hurry I was.

As for the photos, I tried and they looked pitiful. My wife and I are probably going to get a new camera this week some time (baby #2 is on the way and we want to take pictures we'll like), so if I open a new thread for this, you can bet I'll have some better photos.
