This is a '71 P Bass which I purchased from a local deadbeat. He sold the bass to me without disclosing a broken truss rod and then turned his back on me. I loved the bass so I decided to give it a new lease on life. I shipped it off to Phil Jacoby in MD at Philtone. Phil repaired the truss rod and Plek'ed the bass. It functions and plays better than before. One of the easiest playing basses I've ever laid my hands on. I purchased the bass with active EMG pickups installed (yes, there is a very clean, profesionally done route under the PG). Active pickups aren't my thing so I scored an original set of 1974 P bass pickups off of eBay and installed them along with fresh pots and a high quality cap. This thing turned into the PERFECT P Bass! It thunders like an absolute beast.
Other things to mention: There are bumps and bruises (as to be expected from a '71) on it along with really nice finish checking. The pickguard does have extra holes in it from previous owners mounting thumbrests and what not. One of the screws holding one of the tuning gears on is not original. The swapped the saddles out for threaded ones (my preference) but I do have the originals. Schaller straplocks are installed. The bass weighs 8 lbs. 4.4 oz.
Comes with a molded hardshell case.
Cash price: $1,950 shipped CONUS

First of all - it's the best P Bass I've ever played...ever. Second of all, I feel like I saved it its life with the whole truss rod thing and that it may have landed in my hands for a reason - for me to keep it. |

This ad might be getting pulled very soon.
