FT: 1987 Transparent Blue G&L L2000 w/ OHSC and Paperwork!

Hey all,

I've got a 1987 G&L L2000 up for trade. It's a sweet bass, but mainly I just am not a fan of rosewood fingerboards. I would like a G&L with a maple fingerboard.

Here's a photo album. It's the L2000, obviously :P

http://s782.photobucket.com/albums/yy106/NoahJansen/

The bass is in the same exact condition as when I got it.

One of the latches on the case was broken when I received it from Quadzilla, but he was kind enough to include a repair kit for the latch. I will have the latch repaired before I ship it out.

I would really only like an ASAT, L2000 or an L2500 with a maple fingerboard.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks,

Noah

Hello my children,

I have updated the trade list. I spent a six hour drive to PA listening to nothing but Coheed and Cambria, Rush, and 3 so a maple boarded jazz bass would tempt the pants off of me right now. Tempt away TB!

I have nothing to say, except that I would like a maple fingerboarded something and not a Warwick too much anymore.

Bump it up.

I personally would not try the restore route w a vintage G&L like that myself. Just my own thoughts there sorry if I've intruded.

Oh no, please speak your thoughts! I would like to hear them. I have been kind of hesitant about it, and if it would destroy the value, then I would be less likely to do it.

I think maybe getting it re-fretted if needed would be as far as I would go w this anything else I would have a pro do it but I think you get the finish back on that w some gr8 car wax. Inquire about possible solutions using that method first. That is a clear cote that can deff be brought back to a somewhat shinny luster.

Ask others to join in this discussion.

Mmk. I did a TON of research through all these forums and various G&L forums, and it would probably just be more economic for me to just buy a new G&L and keep this one stock, since I kind of want an ASAT more than an L2000.

So I'll deal with the rosewood fingerboard on this one, and save up for a factory-ordered semi-hollow ASAT with a maple fingerboard and binding. Problem solved. I'll have my dream bass and this one will retain its value.

ASAT's are cool I had a fretless Gold sparkle flake w Ebony fingerboard I wish I never sold it I loved that bass. I also had an L2000 same color as yours w a maple board that was very cool too.

Ah dang dude that L2K would have been perfect! Haha I don't know how the fingerboard wood makes that much of a difference, but rosewood just irritates me to no end. I had a maple boarded custom jazz and it was the best feeling thing ever.

Your ASAT description sounds just like the hollowbody on ebay right now. The seller's feedback is somewhat spotty though, or I'd go for it myself.

G&L will sell you a new neck for the bass. I inquired about this last year with a Tribute L-2000.

BUT - response time from G&L was slow because I was only allowed to deal with one specific person at G&L who handles these types of things (can't remember who it was, unfortunately). It was e-mail only - never could get him on the phone. And several days would transpire between e-mails.

I never did get the new neck. Just moved on to other things.
